Anyone watch Chuck last night? Good episode. To me if seemed like Chuck met Desperate Housewives and/or the former, long ago Knots Landing cul-de-sac. Any minute I expected to see Abby Cunningham walk out her front door, wearing a skimpy outfit. Of course, she'd probably not look the same way.....as back in the 80s. LOL!

The rerun of Two and a Half Men was a keeper too. Hilarious antics, Charlie was the one who rescued Jake after Jake and a buddy had an old man outside a liquor store buy them a six pack for $20. Jake asked Charlie - is 20 bucks a good price for a six-pack? LOL Of course Jake got sick and sick, and sick again. Charlie was actually very patient with him. Since of course the character of Charlie Harper knows a thing or two about getting drunk........

FOX snagged the top spot in Monday's ratings, even though ABC's "Bachelor" had its best night of the season.

FOX averaged a 7.5 rating/11 share in primetime, beating out ABC's 7.1/11 for the lead. CBS finished third at 6.2/10. NBC, 4.7/7, came in fourth, and The CW was way back at 0.9/1.

Tuesday nights can be rather dull. So we watched a few episodes of Man vs Wild and Survivorman that we had on our DVR.

We prefer Bear over the Survivorman guy but both shows are entertaining.

Anyone watch either show?

It never fails though, as we sit down to watch with snacks at hand and then they're eating gross things. Sometimes Bear is biting off the head of a live fish, then ripping out its guts and eating the flesh - raw and still flopping around.

I have to close my eyes for these scenes but my hubby gives me a commentary just the same. My stomach does flip flops!

Tuesday is my worst night right now since 90210 and Fringe are on a long hiatus. I suffered through 2 hours of Idol last night which was for the most part, dreadful, and this was supposedly the best group of the three.

TV Ratings: 'American Idol' Tops Tuesday Again
Two-hour show dampens 'Mentalist,' 'Biggest Loser' some

February 18, 2009

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009

Two hours of "American Idol" gave FOX another ratings win Tuesday night and kept a couple competitors from reaching the heights they have in recent weeks.

FOX earned a 14.3 rating/21 share in primetime, coasting to victory over CBS, 10.2/16 (FOX had about 9 million more viewers). NBC came in third with a 5.9/9. ABC was well off the pace in fourth at 2.9/4, while a night of repeats on The CW came in at a negligible 0.7/1.

FOX also ruled the adults 18-49 demographic with a 9.5 rating, which was better than the combined total of the other four networks. NBC took second with a 3.6, edging CBS' 3.4. ABC averaged 1.5 and The CW 0.4.

The first batch of semifinalists on "American Idol" drew a 14.0/21 at 8 p.m. "NCIS," 11.1/17, drew its usual strong numbers for CBS. "The Biggest Loser: Couples," 5.2/8, put NBC in third. "Homeland Security USA" earned a 3.1/5 for ABC, well ahead of a "90210" repeat on The CW.

"American Idol" improved to 14.6/22 at 9 p.m. "The Mentalist," 11.4/17, kept CBS in second, while "The Biggest Loser" rose to 6.1/9 for NBC -- both shows, however, fell off a little from their numbers last week. A pair of "Scrubs" repeats averaged 1.9/3 for ABC. The CW went with a "Privileged" rerun.

CBS' "Without a Trace," 8.0/13, took over the lead at 10 p.m. "Law & Order: SVU" drew a 6.5/11 for NBC. "Primetime: What Would You Do?" scored a 3.6/6 for ABC.

TV Ratings: 'American Idol' Results in FOX Win
Announcement of first three finalists draw 24 million

February 19, 2009

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009

The first live "American Idol" results show of the season carried FOX to a healthy ratings win Wednesday night.

FOX averaged a 10.3 rating/16 share for the evening, easily beating CBS, 7.4/12, for the top spot (FOX had 6 million more viewers). ABC was a distant third at 4.6/7. FOX, 3.9/6, came in fourth, while The CW barely registered at 0.6/1.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 6.5 rating more than doubled the 3.0 for No. 2 ABC. CBS took third at 2.9. NBC averaged 1.7 and The CW a paltry 0.3.

The "American Idol" results show scored a 14.0/22 and 24.4 million viewers at 8 p.m., with no other network coming close. CBS was the best of the rest with "The New Adventures of Old Christine," 4.7/8, and "Gary Unmarried," 4.6/7. NBC's "Knight Rider" and a "Lost" rerun on ABC each drew a 3.6/6, with ABC grabbing a few more viewers. The CW aired a "Privileged" rerun.

CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with "Criminal Minds," 9.5/15. FOX's "Lie to Me" took second in households at 6.6/10, but a new "Lost" (6.5/10) on ABC brought in a few more viewers. "Life" earned a 3.3/5 for NBC, while The CW went with a "90210" encore.

"CSI: NY," 8.1/14, kept CBS on top at 10 p.m. "Law & Order" scored only a 4.8/8 for NBC, but that was good enough to beat ABC's "Life on Mars," 3.7/6, for second.

TV Ratings: 'CSI' Holds Off 'Grey's Anatomy' Thursday
'Private Practice' drops, but still above pre-crossover levels

February 20, 2009

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009

ABC and CBS battled to another split ratings verdict on Thursday, and although "Private Practice" dropped off some from the past couple weeks, it still remained higher than its pre-crossover numbers.

CBS led the night overall with an 8.6 rating/14 share and just under 14 million viewers. ABC, 7.5/12 and 11.5 million viewers, took second. FOX, 5.0/8, finished third, a point ahead of NBC's 4.0/6. The CW trailed at 1.3/2.

ABC won the adults 18-49 race with a 4.2 rating, edging CBS' 3.9. FOX grabbed third in the key ad demographic with a 3.0. NBC, 2.5, was fourth, and The CW drew a 0.8.

"Survivor: Tocantins" put CBS on top at 8 p.m. with a 7.9/13. "Bones" scored a 6.0/10 for FOX. ABC's "Ugly Betty," 5.1/8, came in third. "My Name Is Earl," 4.1/7, and "Kath & Kim," 3.3/5, gave NBC the No. 4 spot, while The CW brought up the rear with a "Smallville" rerun.

CBS stayed on top at 9 p.m. with "CSI," 10.5/16. ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" posted a 10.0/15 and was also the night's top show among adults 18-49. "Hell's Kitchen" drew a 4.1/6 for FOX, topping the 3.4/5 average for reruns of "The Office" and "30 Rock" on NBC.

At 10 p.m., ABC's "Private Practice" earned a 7.5/13 -- down from its "Grey's" crossover-fueled heights of the past couple weeks but still better than its prior season average. CBS' "Eleventh Hour" was right behind at 7.4/11. The return of Noah Wyle to "ER" didn't move the needle much, as the show came in at 4.9/8.

While flipping channels Monday night I noticed Chuck looked like Tracy Chapman doing the "Gone in 60 seconds" movie.

I doubt the writers can stray very from their girl toy roles for Sarah but I actually bothered to watch that episode.

I see there's a 2 hour Brothers & Sisters event, so DH is pre-empted. Sigh........over the years I've wondered if B & S is a good show? Just wondering....

Brent - do you watch B & S? And if so, is it worth catching up on it......I've always enjoyed Sally's Field's work.....
