I have a love-hate relationship with Grey's Anatomy, always have, though lately it's been more hate, but I just cannot get past this ANNOYING Denny storyline. The guy has been dead 2 1/2 years, WHY is he back? Shonda Rhimes has some obsession with him and it's pathetic. Next week: Izzie has sex with him? Seriously?

I think I have an idea where this is going, I think she's going to end up leaving the show by the end of the season. Maybe Denny will take her away or something.

TV Ratings: CBS Tops Tight Thursday
'Grey's Anatomy' and 'E.R.' win their hours in the 18-49 demo

Fast National ratings for Nov. 13, 2008.

"Grey's Anatomy" and "E.R." both delivered strong performances on Thursday, but it wasn't enough to top CBS' across-the-board strength.

Overall, CBS averaged a 9.0 rating/14 share for the night, easily beating the 7.5/12 for ABC and NBC's 5.0/8. FOX's 3.1/5 and The CW's 2.6/4 trailed.

Among adults 18-49, the race was far closer, though CBS won with a 4.1 rating. ABC was close behind in the key demographic with a 3.9 rating, followed by the 3.3 rating for NBC. FOX's 2.2 rating was enough for fourth over the 1.6 rating for The CW.

CBS kicked the night off with a 7.7/12 for "Survivor: Gabon," topping the 6.3/10 for "Ugly Betty" on ABC. NBC's "My Name Is Earl" and "Kath & Kim" held off FOX's "Kitchen Nightmares" for third, leaving The CW in fifth with a 2.7/4 for "Smallville."

At 9 p.m. CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" won the hour with an 11.5/17. That was better than the 10.3/15 for "Grey's Anatomy," but the ABC medical soap won the hour in the 18-49 demographic. NBC was third with "The Office" (4.9/7) and "30 Rock"(4.5/7). FOX's "Kitchen Nightmares" beat the 2.5/4 for The CW's "Supernatural."

Anthony Edwards' return to "E.R." gave NBC a 10 p.m. demographic win, but the show's 6.5/11 was only good for second overall behind the 7.6/13 for CBS' "Eleventh Hour." "Life on Mars" was third with a 6.0/10.

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has shored up its midseason schedule, setting time periods for newcomers "The Goode Family" and "The Unusuals."

Both series will be featured on the network's Wednesday schedule, which has "Scrubs" at 8:00/7:00c, "Goode" at 8:30/7:30c, "Lost" at 9:00/8:00c and "Unusuals" at 10:00/9:00c.

The moves, along with its complete midseason lineup, were released this afternoon on ABCStagePass.com, the network's advertising sales portal.

Premiere dates for the entire schedule - detailed below - will presumably be announced next week.

Mondays
8:00/7:00c - "The Bachelor" (New Season)
9:30/8:30c - "Samantha Who?"
10:00/9:00c - "True Beauty" (New Series)

Tuesdays
8:00/7:00c - "Border Security USA" (New Series)
9:00/8:00c - "According to Jim" (New Season)
9:30/8:30c - "According to Jim" (New Season)
10:00/9:00c - "Eli Stone"

Wednesdays
8:00/7:00c - "Scrubs" (New Season)
8:30/7:30c - "The Goode Family" (New Series)
9:00/8:00c - "Lost" (New Season)
10:00/9:00c - "The Unusuals" (New Series)

Thursdays
8:00/7:00c - "Ugly Betty"
9:00/8:00c - "Grey's Anatomy"
10:00/9:00c - "Private Practice" (New Time Slot)

Fridays
8:00/7:00c - "Wife Swap"
9:00/8:00c - "Supernanny"
10:00/9:00c - "20/20"

Saturdays
8:00/7:00c - "Saturday Night Movie"

Sundays
7:00/6:00c - "America's Funniest Home Videos"
8:00/7:00c - "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"
9:00/8:00c - "Desperate Housewives"
10:00/9:00c - "Brothers & Sisters"

The aforementioned lineup mirrors the schedule that began floating around earlier this week (read the story), save for Wednesday and Friday nights.

That schedule had a full hour of "Scrubs" at 8:00/7:00c on Wednesdays with "Life on Mars" in the 10:00/9:00c slot. Said lineup is certainly still a possibility should "Goode" and "Unusuals" not roll out until February or March.

Current Wednesday occupants "Pushing Daisies" and "Dirty Sexy Money" presumably will be capped at 13 episodes, but remain under consideration for next season.

And lastly, "Here Comes the Newlyweds" - previously targeted for Friday nights - will stay on the bench for now.

I'm seeing these advertisements on NBC about Thursday being "Tornado Thursday". Does anyone have anymore information on this and why?

Well DH was interesting. It was fascinating and compelling but at times felt weird as well. The ending seemed very rushed which I didn't like, but Dr. Heller's death was beyond creepy the way Dave did it, then setting the fire and coming off looking like a hero. 6 people died apparently, but all the other major characters were accounted for. Hate that Porter is going to go down for this, but he was acting strange at the club talking to Tom/Lynette when everyone was outside watching. He never once even tried to deny it which was bizarre. He needs an alibi.

Pre-empted next week, but in two weeks, Carlos may get his sight back!!!!!

TV Ratings: Sunday Viewers Watch Obama, Football
NBC football and '60 Minutes' post strong returns

November 17, 2008

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.

A "60 Minutes" interview with President-elect Barack Obama helped carry CBS to an overall title on Sunday night, but NBC's football claimed the demo crown.

Overall, CBS averaged a 10.2 rating/16 share, comfortably beating the 8.5/13 for NBC and ABC's 6.9/11. FOX's 3.8/6 and The CW's 0.4/1 were far back.

Among adults 18-49, though, NBC averaged a 5.3/13 to win the night. CBS was second with a 4.4 rating in the key demographic, followed closely by the 3.9 rating for ABC and FOX's 3.1 rating. The CW's 0.2 demo rating barely registered.

CBS started off the night in first, averaging a 15.3/24 between NFL runover and "60 Minutes." NBC was second with "Football Night in America," which had a 4.6/7 to edge ABC's NASCAR coverage. A pair of animation repeats on FOX were fourth, with The CW's "In Harm's Way" finishing in last with a 0.5/1.

At 8 p.m. CBS stayed in first with "60 Minutes" and the first part of "The Amazing Race" averaging a 10.8/16. NBC was second with an 8.7/13 for the pregame and kick-off for the Cowboys and Redskins. ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" had a 6.3/9 for third, while FOX's "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" averaged a 4.4/6. The CW's "Valentine, Inc" somehow managed to lose viewers from its lead-in.

NBC won the 9 p.m. hour with a 10.4/15 for the Washington/Dallas game. ABC's "Desperate Housewives" was a close second with a 10.2/15. CBS' "Amazing Race" and "Cold Case" had a 7.4/11 for third. FOX averaged another 4.4/6 for "Family Guy" and "American Dad." And, somehow again, The CW's "Easy Money" lost viewers from its lead-in.

Football closed the night strong for NBC with a 10.2/16. CBS was second with "Cold Case" and "The Unit," which finished barely ahead of the 6.8/11 for "Brothers and Sisters" on ABC.

How ridiculous. Tomorrow's episode looks good minus the Denny nonsense though. The interns are apparently total idiots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2KZcot_Hz8

Big night for the future of Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money tonight. The ratings may decide whether they live to see spring or die in the winter. I think Eli Stone needs to be canceled. Last night's ratings were beyond horrible and it had a big lead-in(which is gone for it's next episode in 2 weeks).

The CW pulls Sunday night programming

After months of rock-bottom ratings, the CW will yank its entire Sunday night block programmed by Media Right Capital.

The shows -- including reality series "In Harm's Way," and dramas "Valentine" and "Easy Money" -- will be replaced by repeats and second-run theatricals starting this weekend.

CW COO John D. Maatta announced the decision in a letter sent to networks affiliates that stated, "The MRC shows are simply not working."

"Our plan is to program Sunday with distinctive, first-rate programming that can quickly stabilize the night," Maatta wrote. "We will work with you to promote and market this new night, with a lineup that will include quality scripted series and contemporary theatrical titles."

The CW will launch a new block including repeats of "Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Game" (launching with season one of both shows),"The Drew Carey Show" (beginning with season two), "Jericho" (starting with the first season) and then a movie. The CW plans to keep this programming lineup for the remainder of the season.

The CW figured renting its low-rated Sunday evening to MRC would be more lucrative than investing and launching shows in the difficult time period. But recent Sunday evenings on the CW have averaged about 700,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating among adults 18-49 in recent weeks, making it the lowest-rated programming block on the top-five broadcast networks. The performances dragged down the network's overall performance average, discouraged audience flow throughout the week and have frustrated affiliates.

ABC has decided against picking up "Pushing Daisies," "Dirty Sexy Money" and "Eli Stone" for full-season orders.

Producers of the shows were told that ABC has decided not to order additional hours beyond the original 13-episode commitments.

Actively avoiding the c-word, the network left the door open for ordering more episodes at a future date, though that is considered improbable. All three shows are still on the schedule for next week.

"Money" and "Stone" are still in production (on their 12th and 13th episode, respectively) and will finish shooting their original order.

"Daisies" and "Money" hit series-low ratings Wednesday night, and "Stone" sank to match a series low on Tuesday despite an improved lead-in. All three fell beneath a 2.0 rating in the adult demo this week.

Now I know why NBC was advertising "Tornado Thursday", My Name is Earl was a tornado episode. That was the weirdest and most unrealistic episode yet. The images of the tornado were terrible, looked like low-quality .gif files planted in the background. The atmosphere during a tornado was not attempted at all, just bright sunlight with 30 mph winds, lame. The story lines and writing is getting pretty 1 dimensional in this series, I could write the darn thing!

For The Office, I thought that bringing Toby back was sort of strange since this show never seems to ever want to let anyone go. There was one character that were not even seen and 1 sub-plot that was not continued. It was pretty good though.

TV Ratings: CBS Easily Wins Another Thursday
'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' is, as usual, the night's most watched show

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.

Although "Grey's Anatomy" still delivered the night's highest demo ratings, CBS had no problems sweeping Thursday in overall measures.

CBS averaged an 8.6 rating/14 share overall for the night, far ahead of ABC's 6.9/11 and the 4.8/8 for NBC. FOX had a 2.8/4 to narrowly beat the 2.7/4 for The CW in fifth.

Among adults 18-49, CBS did a 3.9 rating to nip ABC's 3.7 rating in the key demographic. NBC's 3.3 was good for third, followed by FOX's 1.9 rating and the 1.8 rating for The CW.

"Survivor: Gabon" started CBS off in first, doing a 7.6/12. ABC's "Ugly Betty" was second with a 5.4/9. NBC's "My Name Is Earl" and "Kath & Kim" held third, barely beating the 2.9/5 posted by both The CW's "Smallville" and FOX's "Kitchen Nightmares."

At 9 p.m. CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" won the hour with an 11.3/17, holding off the 10.0/15 for ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." NBC's "The Office" (4.9/7) and "30 Rock" (4.4/7) were third, beating FOX's "Kitchen Nightmares." On The CW, "Supernatural" had a 2.4/4.

"Eleventh Hour" completed the CBS sweep at 10 p.m. with a 7.0/12. NBC's "ER" had a 5.9/10, leaving ABC's "Life on Mars" in last with a 5.3/9.

What I always watch when watching "classic TV" - TVLand or The Hallmark Channel or my food shows on Food Network or PBS, though I'm sorry to hear that ER is in it's last season...

I've sort of given up on TWC - just too much for me nowdays, even moreso now that they are part of NBC...

There's really nothing left to see on network TV (gee, that ryhmes)...
