NYPD Detective Sam Tyler finds himself in 1973 in the cultural hotbed of New York City during the tumultuous times of the Vietnam War, Watergate, women's lib and the civil and gay rights movements without a cell phone or computer -- suddenly hurtled back in time, ripped from 2008 after being hit by a car while chasing down a criminal. He's trying mightily to understand what's just happened to him and how he can get back "home".

Thanks Brent - sounds like an awesome show!

If only I had more time each week to add another.....but the very premise sounds very interesting. I like time travel shows.

Brent,

If you get a chance, watch the British verison. They did an outstanding job on the pilot in tranlating from 70's England to 70's New York.

The music, so far, is great (as long as they skip disco). . . that was the one I especially enjoyed about the British verison

Ratings: 'CSI' Debut Draws Big Numbers Thursday
'Life on Mars,' 'Eleventh Hour' in dead heat, baseball soft for FOX

October 10, 2008

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008

The season premiere of "CSI" led CBS to a ratings win Thursday.

It was a busy night across the dial, as a pair of new series battled to a virtual tie at 10 p.m., a "Saturday Night Live" special scored solid numbers for NBC and postseason baseball whiffed on FOX.

CBS averaged a 9.6 rating/15 share in primetime, beating ABC, 7.7/12, by better than 4 million viewers. NBC took third with a 5.5/9. FOX, 4.4/7, came in fourth, though its numbers will change some because of its live sports coverage. The CW drew a 2.3/4.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS' 4.9 rating led the field. ABC finished second at 4.0, followed closely by NBC at 3.9. FOX averaged 2.1 and The CW 1.5.

"Survivor: Gabon" put CBS on top at 8 p.m. with a 7.8/13. "Ugly Betty," 5.8/9, snagged second for ABC. "My Name Is Earl," 4.4/7, and the premiere of "Kath & Kim," 4.7/7, were third for NBC. Game 1 of the National League Championship series snagged fourth for FOX, ahead of "Smallville," 2.6/4, on The CW.

The "CSI" premiere, with the team tracking down Warrick's killer, scored a 13.7/21 at 9 p.m. -- far and away the night's biggest audience. "Grey's Anatomy," 9.7/15, kept ABC in second. NBC stayed in third with "The Office," 5.4/8, and a "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" special, 6.3/9. FOX's baseball coverage earned a 4.3/6, while The CW dropped off a little with "Supernatural."

At 10 p.m., the debut of "Life on Mars" won the hour for ABC with a 7.7/13. CBS' "Eleventh Hour" premiere was right behind at 7.3/12, but it lost a lot more of its lead-in than "Mars." NBC's "ER" drew a 6.0/10, and led the hour in the 18-49 demo.

DH was hilarious tonight. Best episode in a long time. Loved Bree and Danielle, Susan and Gaby's catfight, Mike and Jackson's friendship, and Edie's white trash comment. Oh and Dave continues to get creepier.

Ratings: FOX Sports Sunday's Best Numbers
Football, baseball broadcasts give the network a win

October 13, 2008

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008

Big ratings for late-afternoon NFL games -- and OK ratings for prime-time baseball -- carried FOX to the top of the ratings heap Sunday.

FOX drew a 7.0 rating/11 share for the night, although those numbers will change some because of the live sports coverage. ABC finished a close second at 6.9/11, topping CBS, 6.4/10, and NBC, 6.1/10. The CW was barely in the picture, drawing a 0.6/1.

The adults 18-49 win also went to FOX, which drew a 4.0 rating in the demo. ABC and NBC tied for second at 3.8. CBS, 2.5, came in fourth, and The CW was just a blip at 0.3.

FOX got a big 12.8/22 from the end of its late-afternoon NFL coverage at 7 p.m. CBS took second with "60 Minutes," 7.1/12. "America's Funniest Home Videos," 4.0/7, put ABC in third. "Football Night in America" was fourth for NBC at 3.1/5. The CW went with "In Harm's Way."

At 8 p.m., ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and NBC's "Sunday Night Football" tied in households at 6.9/11, but ABC had a few more viewers. Game 3 of the National League Championship Series drew a 6.1/10 for FOX. CBS dropped to fourth with "The Amazing Race," 5.6/9. "Valentine" brought up the rear for The CW.

" Desperate Housewives," 9.8/15, gave ABC sole possession of the lead at 9 p.m. NBC's NFL game improved to 7.7/12. " Cold Case" delivered a 7.0/11 for CBS, while the Los Angeles Dodgers- Philadelphia Phillies game on FOX dipped to 4.8/7. "Easy Money" closed the night for The CW.

NBC's coverage of the San Diego Chargers- New England Patriots game and ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" both scored a 6.8/11 at 10 p.m.; NBC had a slight edge in viewers. " The Unit" posted a 5.9/10 for CBS. Baseball on FOX earned a 4.5/8.

Obviously, they didn't get these numbers from me. I mean, why watch the football and baseball games when you can have Category5 and Fact789 give their version of the play-by play and score alerts in chat? ;)

:roflmao:

Hey Mary, Eli Stone returns tonight at 10/9 Central after DWTS Results. Katie Holmes and Sigourney Weaver guest star.

Major DH spoiler too:
Katherine and Mike become a couple in November!!!!!

Production on MRC's scripted series for the CW has been shut down.

The independent producer, which in May inked a time buy-type deal with the CW to program the network's Sunday night, has put the two scripted series for the block, "Easy Money" and "Valentine, Inc.," on 4- to 6-week hiatus.

In their second outing Sunday, "Valentine" averaged 1 million viewers and a 0.4 rating/1 share among adults 28-49, while the well received "Easy Money" logged 750,000 viewers, 0.3/1 in 18-49, down 25% from the premiere.

A rep for MRC said the hiatuses were planned to give writers time to catch up on scripts, and crews and casts were informed of the dates on Friday.

Both shows are still on track to fulfill their 13-episode orders, the rep said.

Thanks for the Eli Stone update! I'll record it.

Here's another question for you Brent. Do you know if TV Guide did away with offering TV show blogs? Links for this former section do not work anymore. I really enjoyed reading them after each episode of many of the shows we watch. Especially Lost......

Ratings: ABC Is 'Who' Wins Monday
'Samantha Who?' premiere benefits from 'Dancing' lead-in; CBS takes the demo crown

October 14, 2008

Fast National ratings for Monday, Oct. 13, 2008

The season premiere of "Samantha Who?" didn't reach the heights it did last season, but it did still help ABC secure a ratings win Monday night.

ABC scored a 9.0 rating/14 share in primetime, beating out the 7.3/11 for second-place CBS. FOX took third in households at 4.8/7, although NBC (4.5/7) finished in a near-tie with FOX among total viewers (FOX's numbers may also change some because it had live sports on the air). The CW finished with a 2.3/3.

CBS snagged the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 4.0 rating. ABC and NBC tied for second at 3.2. FOX averaged 2.4 and The CW 1.7.

"Dancing With the Stars" once again ruled the 8 p.m. hour with an 11.5/17. "The Big Bang Theory," 5.8/9, and "How I Met Your Mother," 5.6/8, put CBS in second. Game 4 of the National League Championship Series came in third for FOX, beating out the 3.7/6 for "Chuck" on NBC. "Gossip Girl" drew a 2.3/3 for The CW.

ABC stayed on top at 9 p.m. with the end of "Dancing With the Stars," 12.0/17, and "Samantha Who?," 7.9/12. CBS remained in second thanks to "Two and a Half Men," 8.9/13, and "Worst Week," 6.3/9. "Heroes" improved slightly on last week's all-time low, drawing a 5.2/8 for NBC. FOX's baseball coverage delivered a 4.7/7, while The CW held steady with "One Tree Hill."

"CSI: Miami," 8.6/14, moved CBS to the lead at 10 p.m. "Boston Legal," 5.6/9, was second for ABC. The NLCS drwe a 4.8/7 for FOX, while the premiere of "My Own Worst Enemy" managed only a 4.7/8 for NBC.

Ratings: 'NCIS,' 'House' Take Tuesday Honors
CBS sweeps the night in total viewers but FOX dominates demos

October 15, 2008

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008

CBS' drama lineup drew the biggest audience by a wide margin Tuesday, but the FOX combination of "House" and "Fringe" ruled the demographic race.

CBS drew a 9.3 rating/15 share in primetime, beating FOX (7.0/11) by better than 3 million viewers. ABC finished third at 6.2/10. NBC, 5.3/8, came in fourth, and a night of repeats on The CW was well back at 1.1/2.

FOX scored an easy win in the adults 18-49 demographic with a 4.6 rating. NBC, 3.3, edged CBS, 3.2, for second place. ABC managed only a 2.2, and The CW trailed at 0.7.

"NCIS," 11.2/17, drew the night's biggest audience for CBS at 8 p.m. FOX got an 8.0/13 from "House," which was also the night's 18-49 champ. "The Biggest Loser: Families" earned a 4.6/7 for NBC, while ABC's game show "Opportunity Knocks" continued to struggle at 3.4/5. The CW aired a "90210" rerun.

CBS and ABC each scored a 9.4/14 in households at 9 p.m., but "The Mentalist" drew more viewers than "Dancing With the Stars." FOX dropped one spot to third with "Fringe," 5.8/9. "The Biggest Loser" improved a little bit to 4.8/7. A "Privileged" repeat trailed for The CW.

"Without a Trace," 7.3/12, kept CBS on top at 10 p.m. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged 6.4/11 for NBC. The season premiere of "Eli Stone" drew a 5.8/10 for ABC but dropped substantially in its second half-hour.

Rocco. Cloris was also in the bottom two so hopefully she goes next

Final Presidential Debate tonight so everything on ABC/CBS/NBC from 9-11 is pre-empted. FOX has baseball.

ABC has ordered more scripts for Eli Stone(awesome episode last night BTW), though the ratings were pretty bad considering the lead-in, but it did better than other second-year shows.

Scary news: Hospital sources confirm that Desperate Housewives star Gale Harold is in the neurosurgical intensive care unit at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, in "stable condition."

According to a representative for the actor, "We can confirm that Gale Harold was in a motorcycle accident yesterday, Oct 14. He has fractured his shoulder and is under observation to assess any possible further injuries. Everyone is hopeful for a full recovery. No one else was injured in the accident."

Ratings: McCain-Obama III Dominates Wednesday
Final presidential debate draws solid numbers on three nets

October 16, 2008

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008

The third and last presidential debate of the 2008 campaign drew a sizable crowd Wednesday night, with ABC, CBS and NBC all outdrawing postseason baseball on FOX.

NBC grabbed the night's biggest audience with a 5.7 rating/9 share. ABC and CBS tied for second in households at 5.4/8, with ABC drawing a few more total viewers. FOX drew a 4.7/7 to take fourth, and The CW trailed with a 1.6/3. Because of the debate and live sports, numbers for all of the Big Four networks will change some in final nationals.

The Peacock also led among adults 18-49 with a 3.2 rating. ABC finished second in the demographic with a 2.5, and CBS and FOX tied for third at 2.4. The CW pulled in a 1.0.

In a tightly bunched 8 p.m. hour, FOX's coverage of the National League Championship Series (5.0/8) had the most viewers, even though CBS' "New Adventures of Old Christine" and " Gary Unmarried" which averaged 5.2/8, had a slightly better household rating. NBC's " Knight Rider" was right behind at 4.9/8. " Pushing Daisies," 4.2/7, improved slightly on its previous performances for ABC. An " America's Next Top Model" clip show drew a 2.2/4 for The CW.

The presidential debate aired on ABC, CBS and NBC at 9 p.m., with NBC's 6.3/9 grabbing the biggest share of the broadcast audience. ABC drew a 6.2/9 and CBS a 5.7/8 for the hour. Baseball on FOX earned a 4.4/6, while The CW went with a "90210" repeat.

The debate and follow-up analysis averaged 5.9/9 for NBC at 10 p.m. ABC finished a close second at 5.8/9, while CBS came in at 5.2/8. The Philadelphia Phillies' clinching of the NLCS posted a 4.6/8 for FOX.

WOW, Life on Mars was amazing. Maybe better than the pilot...

Opportunity's no longer knocking for ABC's "Opportunity Knocks."

Alphabet made its first cancellation of fall, pulling the gamer after three episodes. ABC will air cut-down, hourlong "Dancing With the Stars" recap episodes, leading into the night's live results show, starting next Tuesday.

"Opportunity Knocks" had averaged just a 1.9 rating and 5 share among adults 18-49 during its brief run, as well as 6.3 million viewers.

Hosted by JD Roth, show featured families as they competed -- on their front lawns -- for prizes by answering questions about their lives. Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg, Karey Burke, Todd A. Nelson and Roth exec produced.

ABC will hold on to the six remaining episodes and plans to air them at a later date.
