What do you consider "hot" for Kansas?

#1 Postby David » Fri Jul 18, 2003 6:55 pm

Is 111° hot enough?

Medicine Lodge reached this high a couple days ago. But, today, Enterprise, KS (NorthCentral) hit the same temprature. The heat is unbearable! A local met said we had highs hotter then Death Vally, CA today! That is SAD! Topeka reached a high of 105 or 106°, and Lawrence hit 107°. the highest heat index I saw was in Topeka with a HX of 118°!!!

Thankfully, and cold front moved through, and will hopefully cool tempratures down.

BTW, 105/106° was the hottest temprature Topeka NWS has had since September 11th, 2000 (104°)!!!

Have a good day. :)

Ironic since as you pointed out that it's been over 2½ years since the temperature reached over 104º for Topeka (and that 104º occurred in September) ...

118º heat indecies is dowright deadly.

The last time it got hotter then this was Sept. 2, 2000, when it was 109°F at Topeka.

But, it could be worse.

Monday, Phoenix had a high of 118°F, and a low of 96°F, the warmest low they've had in a long time.
