They did just mention a recurve away from the US.....I thik I'll just stick right here!

They are just recycling this morning's information until somebody writes a new script.

From the looks of it a review of hurricane plans this evening would be prudent.

The NHC upgraded their satellite options today, increasing the total to 10 filters. Check them out for Ike!

Forcasted turn starting ?

It could be a wobble. Let's wait a few hours to see if it's a trend.

Looks like Ike is starting its forcasted west movement., should be right on target for the next forecasted NHC position.
With the models trending more towards the west today, South FL & the Keys should carefully keep an eye on Ike.

I'm sticking with my first call (I'll have to go back and look in pages 6-15 or so) - NEGOM (FLA) or EC.

I like the EURO it's just been too hard to defend it thus far. It hasn't done well this season. Don't let Fox/CNN see this run!!!

Local TV stations are taking notice. Local 10 in Miami ran a crawl shortly after 3:00 pm. With the weekend approaching, people need to stay informed.

I'm betting that the difference in the forecasted steering currents that would recurve Ike and would also let it proceed west are very subtle and that that's the reason one model could show different solutions on different runs. The GFS which eventually takes Ike north after a very close pass to Florida also shows a pronounced slowdown in the Bahamas which indicates a weak steering pattern at that time. The problem for S. Florida is that it could be threatened by ether scenario.

The local weather report here had a meteorologist who just said that he's getting concerned about Ike due to the computer models moving this more in the general direction of Florida as opposed to curving out before Florida. He mentioned that yesterday it looked more like it could curve out to sea, but now, perhaps not so much. I'm just pointing this out because it's good that some TV Mets are keeping up with the changes.

Channel Seven in Miami is already planning hours-long coverage during the day on Ike this weekend, or so they said at the noon newscast.
