That is true Frank2, The stall that we see with Gus puts him behind schedule so to speak in relation to the rest of the atmosphere he runs into once he gets to the Gulf. There is a possibility arising that Gus gets blocked by the Midwestern High pressure ridge expected to build east and southward now and turn back more westerly.

Yep Frank I think given the model spread we still have at the moment its very wise that most of the gulf states watch Gustav as it could yet track just about anywhere within the cone of uncertainty.

This going to be an interesting next week or so. Will have Texas, La. and Miss battling it out in here, and Florida and the Carolinas battling over TD 8 and Hanna.

I LIVE FOR THIS!!!

common sense tells me the more Gus routes around Jamaica to the south the more SW-NE the High is oriented and therefore the more Gus will recurve to the N then NE in the Gulf.

If 8L forms and stays close to Gus it should keep Gus a little weaker.

Sanibel, Td8 is only crawling at the moment, Gustav's foward motion should slowly pull it away from Td8.

THead, this is going to be a very busy week I feel, probably exceptionally busy with the two possible threats.

Not much excitement....it's moreso one group getting excited and the other two groaning and complaining. But I won't give names...

This won't be an issue. They are over 1000 miles apart; they are moving away from each other; they are both relatively small systems and there is an ULL between the two to keep any interaction at bay.

Yes, I agree that since Gustav is now behind the original schedule, so to speak, the atmosphere will also be different that it would have been had it been nearing the SE Gulf at this time, per the earlier forecast plots (48 Hours ago), so, the slowness of the system these past two days has become a critical factor as far as it's eventual path and strength...

I was right last night when I said this thing was DIVING SSW. Looks to me that it went cleanly South. I'm still sticking with my NOLA area landfall within a 150 mile radius.

NHC just put a low probability circle on it. That's five potential players on the field.

I'm seeing right over Jamaica. Could knock it down again.

Good expanding outflow on N quadrant.

From the 8 EDT TWO:

AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SOUTHERN BAY OF CAMPECHE IS
ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE. SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF THIS
DISTURBANCE APPEARS UNLIKELY DUE TO PROXIMITY TO LAND.
