I could write a response about a paragraph long but I'll just keep my fingers still

Same here, but I'll bite my tongue concerning events in the "chocolate city".

Or...we have no idea where its going yet...and we aren't going to show someone getting creamed by a major hurricane...

The cynic in me thought the same, but didn't want to go there. Even a minor extension would have sent NOLA into full panic mode.. I think they backed off a bit on purpose.

The NHC isn't backing off for political reasons. As I've mentioned since yesterday, the storm is expected get trapped under an expanding mid-level ridge which will lead to a dramtic slow down or stall well offshore in the GOM. Gus may be around a while.

Well..... looks like he's right on the NHC track. He's making the turn and picking up forward speed.

It should be no suprise Gustav wouldn't do much until the inflow is no longer disrupted by the mountains on the peninsula. We're not there quite yet, but that will change overnight.

13.2kts?? That's quite a jump in forward speed. Am I reading that correctly?

So is the NHC 5 day not connecting the dots to a landfall at any particular place for fear of creating chaos?

Are you prepared to say the chances of a Texas strike are rapidly diminishing? Give us some insight.

Thanks

No way the NHC would do that.
