Wasn't Fay suppose to wipe Tampa off the map? It wouldn't surprise me either, but not letting my guard down.

I'm keeping my own long-term progonsitications to myself for now, but as a hint, I did buy water last night.

Did the same thing this morning. I bought five 33 bottle cases at HEB. I drink the heck out of water anyway so I'll be putting them to use one way or another. The last thing I want to do is get caught up in the frenzy if Gus pays us a visit. I've got to make a run for batteries here in a bit and I'm good to go.

Welcome. Your introduction is likely to go largely unnoticed, but don't be offended. As you've realized, storms such as this are the high points of activity on S2K.

Best spot in the world for TC weather weenie discussion.

Personally I would love that.

The highest forecasted intensity by the NHC for Fay was 80Kt... I don't think that would be considered something that would "wipe Tampa off the map"...

It was? The NHC never forecasted anything over a strong cat 1/weak cat 2 near Tampa.

If the steering product is right, the ridge has really build westward and lends some credence to the CMC and Euro... just wait and see for now though.

Convection continues to build near or over the center.

...but look at that NE shear across the system - the Mona Passage is mostly sunny and breezy...

CIRRUS MOTIONS INDICATE SOME MODEST
NORTHERLY SHEAR OVER THE SYSTEM BUT OTHERWISE THE ENVIRONMENT SEEMS
TO BE FAVORABLE FOR STRENGTHENING.

From what I've heard on here today from some, you would think it has Chris like shear.

Well, the shear is perhaps more than modest at this point - I'm sure the NHC forecasters have noticed it, too...

RL3AO what is the difference between the picture you put up and the one previously put up a couple of posts ago by mattpetre?

As well as a great place to learn, everyone here is great about explaining things you may not understand, and never do they make you feel stupid!!! :D Again WELCOME
