A tropical earth(theory) how big would the hurricanes be.

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

A tropical earth(theory) how big would the hurricanes be.

I've been thinking about what if we found a planet the size of earth in another solar system that is "warmer" but has 90% oceans. I'm talking about a world with a few landmass the size of Japan, with thousands of islands like Hawaii, leewards, cape verdes.

Just think of a world that is tropical...About 8 million miles closer to a sun, that is just like ours in many ways. This world would have water oceans with a Atmopshere like earths. But it would be a tropical world.

Avg global temperature at the equator about 80 during the winter and 95 degree's during summer. With the poles getting down to the 60s during the winter and 75-80 during the summer. That would mean a large part of the planet could form "hurricanes" In during the summer area's as high north around 60 degree's could form hurricanes. In if very little land beside Japan scale landmass then these would be truely something to see. Another question needs to be asked how would the wind shear be on a planet like this?

Just think of the beast that could form on a planet like this. I would be screaming outside of Nasa to send a probe to go around this planet if we ever found it. I would jump up and down.

I would imagine that there would not be that many hurricanes if the poles were fairly warm. It seems to me the "reason" that hurricanes exist is to transfer heat from the tropics to the higher latitudes. That said, I'd imagine that any storm that got going on this planet could easily become a monster, but this is just a guess.

Tropical cyclones can form anywhere if the conditions are right.

As long as there's not other inhibiting factors, a planet like this could potentially have many tropical cyclones. And anything that did form would probably have a pretty good chance of becoming a monster. Monitoring the weather on such a planet would certainly be a sight to see.
