I cannot tell you how touched I was when we got back to find about 15 people there to help us pack up everything and load it. I made two phone calls this morning to ask two people to come and help. Two turned into 15 or so. There's no way we could have done it without these dear people. Their outpouring of generosity was amazing. I've heard it said that troubled times can bring out the best in people. Today I witnessed it. Amazing.

More than likely you have done some amazing things for other people and it was just your turn!!! Thank you for sharing...and my prayers are with all of you who have been effected by this storm!

Been a crappy day here, they are saying the heavy rain for Pcola and Mobile will be here tomorrow afternoon, but cant see by radar...as it moves west of us, is NW Florida going to be in the heavy rainbands on the eastside?

Look at a satellite loop and you'll have your answer. All of Fay's rain is caught up in the southwest jet. Pensacola won't get much of anything.

I noticed that, it looks terrible.

Right--Bob Breck is on and he says VIPER Model says heavy rain for New Orleans on Monday. This baby is dying, IMO. I get tired of the drama. Like wxman says---it's safe to say that nothing will happen in S. Miss. or the New Orleans area.

LC ... sorry to hear that. From my Katrina experience .... get the carpet out and cut your sheetrock and insulation out at least 6 inches above the waterline. Go buy a garden sprayer and get some regular bleach and if you can find it a product called jomax ... mix that and spray over your 2x4's ...do this at least twice over the next month. Squeegies work great if you can find one ....getting your floor dry once the water recedes.

Take photos and make sure you get the proper city permits to put your sheetrock back in or you will be tearing it back out.

Take care and be careful. Don't get frustrated and just take it one step at a time. I've been thru this and you will make it ... it's tough but you can do it.

might get the occasional rainband or two in Pensacola tomorrow. However, my forecast of 5-10 inches busted big time.

I did not anticipate this structural change

fay was the first storm that i actually stayed up to 6 am for (monday morn, i think) when she threw the NHC and the recon pilots a curve ball and accelerated thru central cuba NNW then NW (before getting back in line). I will remember the debates that morning with many posters very confused that early morning. So long fay, you nastly little ........thing you.

Fay might be gone but there is rain according to the local mets. I think it is a wait and see type of situation.

When cutting drywall, cut at 2' or 4'. That is the way NFIP or Insurance companies like to see the cuts.

Fay is not done concerning a very serious rainfall/flooding threat, but kudos to the board for staying fairly calm and informing those that have experienced this very long and winding road we all have traveled...

For those trotting out the stretcher for Fay, she's still got a bunch of rain left to deliver.

Days 1-2 predict 8.8" for S/SE MS:

http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/d12_fill.gif

Days 4-5 show a lot of rain for the Birmingham-Anniston corridor stretching into the western Carolinas.

http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/95e00p48iwbg_fill.gif

And the 5 day total centers 15.4" in rural, SW Alabama just north of Mobile in Washington County.

Am interested in seeing whether some of that moisture wraps around the back side of the upper trough that cut through South LA this afternoon.

TD or otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised to see instability left over from Fay's remnants to cause plenty more rainfall in the Southeast. That's JMO of course.

Boom, or maybe I should say Bust!

I wonder if some of this moisture will be transported as far north as northern Kentucky?

Steve, I was wondering the same thing and am glad that I am not the only one thinking that. Have been watching the progression of that for a while on WV. Very interesting indeed.

How long will Fay hang out over the South Alabama? Sounds like tomorrow is going to be a rough day for this area.
