Hi Frank,
It's been way too long since I posted in tis thread. Your house looks FABULOUS! :) I am so glad to see it completed. :) The yard looks GREAT! :) I love the palm trees. :)

I hope more people will rebuild along the coast like you have.

Update on the neighborhood; A neighbor two lots to my west has started breaking ground to build a new house. The owners live in St Louis and this will be their summer home... it will be only the second new home on the beach in west biloxi... maybe more will follow... hopefully

Don't give up hope. A lot of people were still fighting their insurance companies 2 years after Ivan. But the beachfront is going to change probably,it sure has over here. Some for the good, some not so good! Kind of off track here, but to the east of your house(I think it was east) I saw a little shotgun type house, but it looked to be new. Is this one of the Katrina cottages? If it is,then they are really cute(if not a little small). We are coming back to visit Biloxi next month for hubby's birthday and drop some more tax money for you all(ha-ha).Take care . Colleen

Hey Colleen, ya always welcomed back to the coast... hope you win some money and still lower my taxes.... not sure if I know where the cottage you are referring to is... but I'll check it out this weekend.. the cottages are cute and would make a nice second home.. problem is, most lots on the beach aren't big enough to legally have a second small home on the lot. So the city is making those with the cottages still have to build a home, and then move the cottage... they are well built I might add..

Hey Frank! Just thought I'd pop in and say Hi. Anything new going on over there? We were over last month for hubby's birthday and we thought we saw some new construction in a couple places, but don't remember if it was Biloxi or Gulfport. Things are starting to look better, but there's still a long way to go. Well, gotta go,supposed to be cleaning house! haha

A few more houses being built on the beach in Gulfport.. Hwy 90 is a total and complete mess.. Sand beaches after the replenishment is very nice in my area... fixing up the parking bays for the summer time. Traffic on 90 is getting bad. Not much commercial activity to report other than condos.. neigbors new house project currently shut down because house plans violate set back requirements... back to the drawing boards...

Frank,

Looks like I'll be heading your way May 19-21. I have two hurricane preparedness talks at the Beau Rivage on the 20th (10am and 6pm). As I'm flying in/out of New Orleans (a talk in New Orleans on the 22nd) I'll probably cut down to Hwy. 90 in Gulfport and drive along the beach the afternoon of the 19th. Maybe I'll get a chance to stop by and see how things are going along the coast.

Good stuff wxman57... maybe you can stop by for a quick visit if you have time... Beau has a killer buffet I might add... I'll send you my cell phone number via a PM in early May if you want to touch base before you come...

We have two remaining house structures that were severely gutted by Katrina in my beach front block in Biloxi, found out this week that they have started rebuilding one of them (nice stone house three lots east of me). Contractor said it would probably take about 3-4 months to complete.. He has about 8-10 Mexicans working full time.... can't imagine what this is going to cost...best guess ~500K or more, but it's great to see them save one of the few remaining pre Katrina houses on the beach in Biloxi..

Here a pix of the house

Hey Frank! How's it going with that house they were rebuilding? We were over last month for a few days, noticed a few new things here and there. Drove down to Gulfport and then drove back on a back street. Sure was easier than trying to navigate hwy.90! But I still like the view from 90! How's that house going that had problems with the planning commission? Have they started rebuilding yet? The new McDonalds looks nice but we didn't try it out this trip. With the few new things it's getting easier to get your bearings. I remember reading from posts from the guy that rode out the storm on the back bay saying that he had trouble figuring out where he was,and he had lived there forever. We were the same way our first trip over in Jan.06. We just couldn't figure out where we were. I think it was our third trip over before I found the Hurricane Camille memorial! I notice improvement every time we visit, but it's going to be a long journey! You guys take care.

Hi cag nice of you to drop in on the coast, new house to the west of me has done nothing since October... must still be having permit/planning commission issues .... stone house to the east of me is being rebuilt... Probably two to three months from completion... I'm trimming out the pilings under the house... hope to be finished by the end of June... 90 is just a total mess... they expect to be completed with the entire project by the end of the year, we can only hope... improvements are slow to come.. sure which more businesses would come back to the beach... also found out last week that the neighbor to the NE behind my house is going to rebuilt.. this is good and bad news as we have beening using her drive way as a back entrance to our house, to avoid 90... her house construction will stop that :(

still good to see another neighbor return.. I ask her why she was coming back... she said she really missed living on the beach, especially the wonderful breeze that's always blowing, and the view... thus of the 13 families on our beach block... we have now 1 new house, 1 rebuilt house, 1 house being rebuilt, 1 new house that is on hold but I expect the building to resume any day now, and 1 that is planning to rebuilt... 5 of 13...

Maybe it will be like after Ivan, over here. Things just seemed to sit undone forever, then one day everything just seemed to pick up and people started rebuilding. Of course there are still quite a few empty lots along the beach and intercoastal waterway, some probably because of insurance and some that decided they just didn't want to live on the water anymore. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for your area.

Hey,you got your trim work done! looks good. I guess we lucked out with Fay. Hopefully that luck will last the rest of the season. We were supposed to come over to Biloxi last month, but Terry got real sick the night before we were supposed to leave, so we had to cancel. Maybe we can get over next month. I've got some birthday money to burn.(haha) I hear Hwy. 90 is really bad to navigate. I also read there's a gas station on 90 as well. Anything else going up(
besides condos)? Well, take care. I'll wave as we go by the next time we're over!
