The latest track looks like it has moved further north. We may be spared anything at all over here.
I can't believe it is still pouring rain down on Florida. :(

Interesting to see the post about Orlando getting heavy rain at 4:30. Right now, we in St. Pete are getting hammered! Very heavy rain and thunder, coming in bands, but very briefly. The last deluge was about an hour ago (maybe half an hour) with thunder and high wind.

We had a downpour at around 4 this morning, followed by another pounding at 7 am. What's ironic is, when Fay first got her name a week ago yesterday, this area was in the cone - and was consistently so practically up until the time when she slid right and into S/W FL. Over a week later, Fay is way up in the panhandle, far from us - and now we're getting wind and downpour.

If the current track pans out...and if anything, it would probably shift even further north, looks like New Orleans area will never quite get into the eastern part of Fay where all of the rain is occuring. With ts warnings and watches dropped, this isn't going to be a wind concern at all either.

I wouldn't put the nail in the coffin of any tropical system until it's actually gone.
I've seen too many crazy things happen in my many years of tracking these systems.
My point is to think N.O. or any other location has missed the heavy rainfalls is
a bit premature to say the least. IMHO

We just lost a huge piece of a big tree in our front yard, although the wind has not been that strong up this way(I'm 150 miles inland). Only some occasional gusts close to 35. Barely missed the vehicles.

If I had to guess I'd say it's being pulled NW by the ULL diving SE and once the ULL gets south of Fay she'll probably continue her westward movement. Just my guess from what I see on WV loop.

Getting a little gusty in Mobile, 38 mph at the airport, but partly cloudy with a lot of sun still poking out. A few raindrops earlier but I see we're still in the dry slot. We've had a lot of rain in this area over the last few weeks and there are parts of my yard that are still wet, so keep the 20+ inches over your way Tally.

Ypu're right...and it really doesn't take much rain in a short period to cause problems in N.O. I guess I meant that the risk of a landfalling tropical system that has been able to spin up into more than a weak t.s. or more likely a depression by later has diminished. Preparations for a heavy rain event should absolutely be made.

That ULL is rocking along at a pretty good clip http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/eaus/loop-wv.html. I wonder if Fay will get as much dry air pushed in once it is south.

I just received an email from WLOX TV-13 informing me that the TS warning has been dropped for the MS Gulf Coast because TS Fay is moving inland into FL. I just checked the radar out of Mobile which shows lots of rain in central MS but very little here along the coast. Are we still forecasted to receive lots of rain here in Biloxi or is the amount of rain originally forecasted for Biloxi and surrounding areas now been lowered since TS Fay is now moving inland into FL?

Wow...looks like she is getting spanked by dry air moving through central and SE LA. Her bigger bands look like they are moving back west through Florida...wow.

We took the kids for a drive on the Mobile Bay Causeway earlier this afternoon. What can I say, the frustrated storm chaser in me had to play a little! I was going to take pictures, but someone (that would be me!) didn't charge the digital camera battery. :( So here's the written report, instead: The bay north of the causeway was quite rough: there were whitecaps. The bay south of the causeway was pretty smooth, but the water has been blown south. There are mudflats along that side of the causeway. The wind was gusting pretty good-- it was moving my Honda SUV around a bit. I'm not so good at estimating wind speeds. However, when we got home I checked The Weather Channel local weather. It stated there were gusts to 30 mph in downtown Mobile. We drove past Carnival's Fantasy and saw the cruisers boarding (the kids love cruise ships-- okay, so does Mom!). I couldn't help but wonder if they were going to have a bit of a rough ride out tonight and tomorrow. I spent a little time this afternoon sitting on out patio reading and enjoying (yes-enjoying) the winds. Every so often we get a really good gust-- maybe in the 25-30 range?? We have had passing showers, too.
(Oh--- DH is going to have to endure the NOT cancelled karaoke party tonight and then, possibly, heavy rain and other bad weather tomorrow. Not a happy dude!)
