not what you need. Afraid I can't help there either as the U/A pattern looks dry for you at least into Wednesday after which you might get in a better pattern.

Our front porch looks like a ICP.....we have the police scanner so everyone in the neighborhood is here at the house fixated to the scanner going off......the air is heavy with acrid smoke, no ash yet, I expect some within the next few hours.......still on the ground, the fire started up ladder fuels, the ladders were cut down in short order, this needs to happen to prevent the fire from crowning and making a run for Pinetop.

Bear Fire (just named) is now at 60+ acres, lightning struck a Ponderosa yesterday evening around 1500 hrs, witnessed by a tower lookout at Chuck Box Lookout, sat overnight and smoldered, around 1430 hrs, temps around 100° caused the tree to explode sending hot embers to the N, E, NE directions.......still on the ground at 1700 hrs, heavy bombers due in about 20 minutes, they will have time for 2 drops each before sundown, let's hope they nail this SOB before nightfall.

I've sent some of you a photo, I've towering Pyro Cumulus starting to build and collapse, just like last year.........if this continues until sunset, evacuation of Pinetop is on the horizon........I am NOT leaving this time, I can't anyways, we'll be on roadblocks once again. Damn.......if the monsoons would have been on time!

That's Not Good

#10 Postby Aslkahuna » Sun Jul 13, 2003 8:49 pm

what with CB to your SW sending outflow uphill as well and another hot one on tap for tomorrow. None of the models offer any change until Wednesday. Sure does sound like an Arson start (BTW, anyone here catch that story about Al Qaida planning a series of Western Wildfires?)

Dennis. I'm sure you'll be keeping eyes and ears on the events of the next few hours. Be safe..even if not to evacuate. How far are you from the rim itself, and are you downslope or upslope once it hits it?

Respond only if you have time, my friend.

Temperature Differential

#20 Postby M2 » Sun Jul 13, 2003 11:15 pm

Perry, to give you an idea of how the monsoon makes a
difference over here, Tucson who just had storms move through has a temp
of 81F currently - you know where I & Azskyman are in relation to them
(~100mi north) and our temp is 109F. That's a 28-degree temperature differential,lol....
