It's weird the past few United States storms have wound up just before landfall - Humberto, Dolly, Edouard.

After I posted, read the Alicia and Barry comments.

If I'm reading right, Barry's actual landfall was south of Brownsville, so technically, that would not be a Texas strike, correct?

I'm going to be the bad guy and say that the NHC did great with the intensity forecast, but completely missed the target in regards to the track. The storm will be making landfall in Louisiana. There is no doubt at this point.

That is much further away than Southern Galveston, as the NHC was calling for the entire time. EDIT: And STILL IS!

Uhm, you realise the last VDM was pretty much directly south-southeast of the LA/TX border? Unless it takes a hard north, it's not making landfall in LA.

From the last few radar shots and IR sat shots, I'd say - completely unofficial, of course - that it looks like it is headed right for Crystal Beach right now.

At the angle it approaching the coast, it will make landfall in Cameron parish.

Its not going to make landfall in LA guys, just give it up. Now, it will probably send some nice 50-60 mph winds along the LA coast, however, so even still they get some goods from Ed despite a landfall there. Also, I think a LOT of people are gonna wake up and be VERY surprised at how intense a minimal cane/strong TS really is, especially a deepening one.

To my untrained eye, looks like an eye trying to close off to me on radar.

Next advisory should be interesting. Anyone think that Ed will be a 'cane at that point?
