Re: ATL: H Dolly in Western Gulf of Mexico
Lets see, the storm is in a complete stall, the eye wall is intensifying, The Upper trough is moving down a little faster than they expected and the High over Mexico is pushing her N, so there are some reasoning behind what I said.
But yes I don't claim to be a pro or anything. I don't call it -removed-, but just thinking how other systems like this have reacted to stuff like this.

Port Isabel has NW winds at 58 gusts to 70.
If their winds are from NW would then not mean that the center will pass north of them.
Port Isabel is at 26.1 and at 11 AM Dolly was at 26.0.
Wouldn't winds be from the east (onshore) if the store were south of it (not past there yet)?

Ha, I guess I should actually read the thing at the bottom of each advisory, eh?
Intermediate advisories will be issued by the National Hurricane
Center at 1200 PM CDT and 200 PM CDT followed by the next complete
advisory at 400 PM CDT.

This is a warning for all the members. As noted a couple of days ago by one of our administrators,we will deleite without notice posts that not contribute to a sound discussion of this dangerous situation that is developing with the landfall later today of Hurricane Dolly.

You're supposed to put the satellite in "loop" mode.
On a more interesting note, Hurricane force winds should be coming in soon.
Port Isabel should be a good ob to watch to get the eyewall.

the EYE of dolly will not pass over BROWNSVILLE because AT 11 AM CDT THE CENTER OF HURRICANE DOLLY WAS ESTIMATED NEAR
LATITUDE 26.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 97.0 WEST OR ABOUT 35 MILES...60

Yeah we all have her figured out pretty well. I think the NHC had her making landfall
at midday. That is obviously not going to be the case per the radar loop below.

It WILL be midday when this hits....

Can we discuss pertinent facets such as observations, damage, et al? Let's not waste everything on wobble wars...
NHC will nail the landfall time.
...and barrier islands count as a landfall when the center of the eye crosses the coastline at a particular point (as stated in the established definition of landfall).

Re: ATL: H Dolly in Western Gulf of Mexico
Ok for all you guys that are bashing me, I'm guessing that the barrier islands are going to cause Dolly to stop all the intensifications. Oh that is also considered Landfall to. I don't consider it landfall when it goes over land that is only about 150 yards across. I consider landfall when it hits the main coast of Texas.

Looks like the western eyewall is now onshore, the actual eye landfall probably is going to occur in the next hour. Looks like its going to hit SPI bang on.
As HarlequinBoy said this is looking very bad indeed, really does look bad what reports in terms of winds have we had from down in the landfall zone.
I think quite a few people have underestimated this hurricane...
