I hope the flooding isn't too severe. We don't need another Floyd up there but it looks as if it will be moving and be out of the area by late tomorrow evening. However, 7 mph is really creeping along.
In the meantime, I've checked all the Cams posted and the Atlantic looks relatively benign right now. If this persists it will be great for avoiding beach erosion.
Good luck to all of our SC/NC and eastern seaboard members.

You're right HurricaneQueen. We don't need a Floyd but a little rain would help. Unfortunately, we don't have any say in the matter.

I am in Pawleys Island so I'll plan to post visual observations throughout the day... Just squally weather right now, the rain has not been that heavy as the feeder bands have been farther north. One is moving in now though I think. Winds have reached maybe 25 mph in gusts, but not bad at all. Some white caps on the "creek" or marsh. Ocean is pretty rough. From the radar it looks like this thing is starting to wrap up - would not be surprised if we have Cristobal this PM.

It might be Dolly if 94L has an LLC (winds there support 45 kt TS strength already) and this does not have 39 kt FL winds or 35 kt SFMR winds right away.

hat happen in 1999 is that we had a lot of rain that year. Then dennis came to see us 2 times then 2 weeks later Floyd came and Floyd was a very big storm too. So with water already here then Floyd on top of that Raleigh open its gates and let the water come down this way. They didn't know they would flood us. But they did. I sat here and watch it come in. where it was flowing there is NO Lakes etc.. But it was coming in like waves on a beach. Took only 3 hours from dry to 4' of water. The water here was over 10' deep or deeper. I have pic and a tape of it.It took 11 days for it to go down.If we got 20 in of rain right now it wouldn't be a floyd. you are talking about maybe 35" to 40 " of rain in 3 weeks time. Then would be low line flooding.

What started off looking like a rain event has become a yawner. Beautiful day just a little breezy here on the coast.

This could fizzle overnight or it could be a Cat 1 in the morning. We all know how tough intensity forecasts are.
If you live in the warned area, especially Hatteras and Ocracoke islands, its better to be prepared for a hurricane and get a tropical storm than vice versa. While im not expecting a repeat of Alex I am urging the people in the path of Cristobal to prepare for the unexpected.

As of 0830 in Morehead City, bands of light rain moving thru and and a few periods of sunshine. Winds ene at 8-12 gusting to 21 mph in rain bands. Beaufort Inlet is a little frisky with 4-5 foot breakers from SSW, other than that nothing really significant to report. The media will really need the wind machines for their live shots this morning! Will report back if anything remarkable happens.
