Bold Prediction

#1 Postby americanrebel » Wed Jul 16, 2008 3:57 am

I predict within the next 3 weeks we will have another Cape Verde system that will become a Major Hurricane that will head to the Caribbean and cause catastrophic damage to the islands. I see a wave on the eastern part of Africa that looks pretty good, and say it will be the next major Cape Verde system. This is my humble opinion though.

The 2008 July 16 06Z GFS run seems to support your prediction. The Great Cape Verde storm you predict shows up clearly on the last few days of the run. However, the track of the storm seems to take it north of the islands.

A system that strong would very possibly recurve towards the weakness in the ridge shown between Bermuda and the US EC...

Besides, a 384 hour forecast map is akin to fiction...

Don't forget the disclaimer, too...

The GFS gets a resolution lobotomy at 180 hours, and isn't to be trusted for any great detail after that.

The following is true for any of the posts that I make to this thread: The post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is NOT endorsed by any professional institution including storm2k.org For Official Information please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

I note that the 12Z run has the storm weaker and has it going into mid-Florida.
