After two weeks, still the most interesting feature in the tropics.

Bertha appears to be trying desperately to reach Hurricane strength again, but it looks like it will fall short at 11.

AROUND 120 HOURS A
COMBINATION OF COOLER WATERS AND AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH INTERACTION
MAY...HOPEFULLY...START TO SIGNAL THE DEMISE OF BERTHA AS A
TROPICAL CYCLONE.

The NHC is still suggesting a possible hurricane by the end of the day. Bertha seems to have leveled off a bit from that improvement.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bertha hang around for another week and survive well into the NE Atlantic.

Not as a tropical system though in most probability.

If it looks like a hurricane... it probably is.

I've got to admit it does look like a hurricane, not sure why the NHC are holding back on not upgrading it but there we go. Still a very impressive system!

The eye has become a little irregular thanks to the convective burst on the NE side.

if you really analyze the photos it appears there are many different levels of clouds going on. There is not much uniformity at all. I think that is what is holding it back form being upgraded. It truly looks a mess to me even though it does have some structure to it.

Then again its got a eye thats fairly clear and there is pretty deep convection around the whole eye as well, I wouldn't call it messy at all, now 94L, thats pretty messy!

if you look carefully around that eye I see definate differences in cloud heights. That is what I mean by messy. As I say the structure is there but not uniform at least to my eye.
