Thanks to Bertha's circulation weakening the trade winds across the Windward Islands into the Caribbean, the waters have warmed up in a hurry back to near normal, so 94L will have plenty of warm waters.

Even if 94L is still attached to the ITCZ, can't it become a depression anyways? In the Cpac there are depressions that are still connected to the ITCZ.

So I take it this is not from a tropical wave but merely the ITCZ? How often in July do storms come from the ITCZ?

2am TWO:

THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 1400 MILES EAST OF THE
LESSER ANTILLES CONTINUES TO INCREASE IN ORGANIZATION.
THIS SYSTEM APPEARS LIKELY TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION SOMETIME
TODAY AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH.

Looks like the nhc made a good choice not upgrading this, maybe it is just d-min. But I would wait a little longer.

Well its got a good look on the vis imagery with a decent looking circulation but convection has weakened somewhat over the last few hours. Despite that it looks as good as Bertha did when it was upgraded so I'd have thought it could well be upgraded.

Yep they are starting to come in, we will get a better image of this systems actual structure in the next hour or so.

By the way we are already im the top 30 longest threads on storm2k IF this goes on to become a storm.
