Looks like Claudette is weakening a bit again. Wind shear wasn't down for too long. Still think it can make hurricane in 12-18 hrs.

It may become a hurricane before impacting the Yucatan, but IMO that wind shear has saved the coastline just south of Cozumel from a major hurricane.

The way Claudette deepened last night (from 1004 to 988 mb in 9 hrs)....if that had continued...we would have likely been talking cat-3 by landfall.

The bad thing is that if Claudette misses the Yucatan she'll enter the GOM at full strength. Not a good thing for someone along the gulf...
