Claudette should become a hurricane in the GOM

#1 Postby Derek Ortt » Thu Jul 10, 2003 4:10 am

I see no reason why she will not become a cane. Upper winds are becomming mroe favorable, not sure exactly what Lawrence is seeing when he said the 20-25KT of shear will persist, after all, it has already weakened considerably. In addition, the outflow is expanding to the west, while it is restricted. The best course of action is to monitor the system for those ehre in Texas, but it is way too early to panick at this time

Note: I will be at the office near 7 a.m. Feel free to e-mail me any questions that you may have. e-mail is dortt@rsmas.miami.edu

So as of now, it's Mexico and Texas that are really in the path of Claudette. So is it safe to say, the rest of the gulf coast is pretty much out of the woods at this time?

This one is a Mexico storm - all the way - she's alot further west and there is nothing to turn her - so I am calling it a Mexico landfall.

I am not sure how any one can ask the question are we safe yet ? The next big thing will be the point at where she enters the gulf will it be the central or Southern gulf .

Watch out Texas to Tampa !

I asked the question because I wanted to hear others opinions on the matter. I know how unpredictable storms are but I am (was) curious to others responses. This is a message board, correct? So, I asked a question. What's the big deal?

No Bonnie in your location where you are you have to watch Claudette until it goes inland somewhere in the GOm or in Mexico or in the US GOM coast because this may stall in the GOM as forecast so you are not out of the woods until there is not danger at all.

Yes it is a message board . I just don't understand everyone asking that question. Because it is IMPOSSIBLE to answer . I know that you have been here along time and know how unpredictable storms are . Most of the time you see that question asked by kids on a board like twc.

Now Where will she go ?
