Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Possible Severe Weather
That storm moving into Hardin County (with the warnings) is spitting out a decent outflow boundry - should combine with the seabreeze, at first over Liberty County - and provide some interesting stuff.
I'm watching the stuff in Montgomery County hoping that it can continue to increase in coverage - I'd like more than a 5-minute shower out of this (hopefully)...

Unless it falls apart or something, this storm is headed in my general direction, but it could miss me. The warning is still NW of me.

Yep, the bulk of that cell just missed me... I got some lighter stuff on the edge of it. I had a pretty good storm earlier today, though. Overall, with so many scattered showers each day, I've gotten a decent amount this week and haven't had to water my new shrubs much lately (they need water every day).
Not too much, not too little - just about right.

Yep CM, it is absolutely STORMING! Saw the radar show blips of purple right over south Lafayette and sure enough it had started hailing outside. No warning but this is one intense storm that was much needed!

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Possible Severe Weather
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued an
* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
central Lafayette Parish in south central Louisiana...
this includes the cities of... Scott... Lafayette...
* until 930 PM CDT
* at 630 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated rainfall rates of 2 to 3
inches across Lafayette. This will result in temporary flooding of
some streets and underpasses.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.
Whew! I'm glad that storm is almost out of here. I could hear hail hitting the front window. Probably pea size at the most. Before the storm hit there was some beautiful cg lightning.

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Possible Severe Weather
Around 605-610pm we actually had a funnel cloud that moved through portions of Pearland. With all the various outflow boundaries that were present I had told myself about 10 minutes earlier I wouldn't be surprised if we got a brief spin up. It lasted about 5-6 minutes I'd guess before dissipating. I only got one picture mainly b/c despite what I had told myself earlier I was still somewhat shocked to see it (no warning at that time), velocity scans didn't look all that impressive not to mention it was my first time seeing a funnel/tornado so I was somewhat star struck if that makes since, and not to mention I was trying to get in contact with my cousin as well who lives in Pearland to alert her to what was going on.

Thanks for posting wlfpack81. I was actually looking very carefully up here as the boundry moved in from the north. Lots of scud, but did have a small wall cloud. We were between two cells that rapidly developed as they collided with seabreeze. Glad nothing became of it.
