Yes, I believe it will become a hurricane as it approaches the southern Gulf/Yucatan.

I also voted yes. However, the caveat is that Claudette will have to slow down considerably to hold onto her TS status and not lose the LLCC that has been found. That being said, I do feel she has a good clean slate in front of her all the way to the W and NW GOM coast thanks to 2 ULL's out in front of her cleaning it all up for her. She is looking better and betteer with each image of the sattelite showing her establishing her good outflow especially in the Northern quadrants. Am I predicting where she will go with that comment? NO, but that is the clear path. I need to do a lot more studying of the conditions and model progs before I even attempt to come near a landfall area prediction.

You don't think it is too early to make a landfall prediction? Even when it is in the Gulf of Mexico, landlocked..... if Claudette is moving slowly, an erratic track would be more and more likely.
