You know what, thats a good idea. I second it.

I'll third it.

Maybe hold the vote for number two?

I agree with this idea, as well. There simply isn't anything that can overshadow a storm that killed so many, regardless of where it happened.

I'd rather not hold a vote at all, though, because there's no sense in having a "number two" either when we usually don't. ;)

Like in any other month, we must go through a system in which first there's a nomination and then an election. I know the election has already been decided, but there is no need to rush it. The system works and there's no need to amend it.

I agree the following should be the candidates, in chronological order:

-Cyclone Nargis
-May 1-2 outbreak (Arkansas mainly)
-Typhoon Rammasun
-May 7-15 outbreak (Picher et al)
-Florida wildfires
-May 22-31 outbreak (Parkersburg et al)
-Typhoon Nakri
-Tropical Storm Alma
-Mongolia blizzards
-Tropical Storm Arthur

"the election has already been decided"

I respectfully disagree, HURAKAN. As I said, people who only follow the Atlantic - of which there are much more on s2k compared to those who follow TCs worldwide - are less likely to have ehard of Nargis and more likely to vote in Arthur over Nargis. If that happens, this will be a farce.

I dont think there is a way possible that you couldnt have heard about Nargis unless you sat under a rock.

Well, keep in mind many news reports don't actually list names for cyclones. Last year, they swamped the news with reports of the cyclone that killed 3,000 in Bangladesh (Sidr), but I don't think I know of a single newscast to use that name. Nargis was more used than Sidr, but I can see the confusion.

Depends on the final voting during the election time. If two or more systems receive the same amount of votes, they will become "Storms of the Month."

Number 4. I think we should hold it off.

EDIT: Number 5, actually. Didn't see stormspinner's post.

Nargis... this is so obvious that a poll would only be laughable

and if something other than nargis was elected, that would show that we have a totally broken system for storm of the month

Alma and Arthur were tropical storms. Nargis was a major tropical cyclone that killed tens of thousands.

I don't think there's any doubt to the truth of this statement. I strongly feel it's already flawed, but we have our first real mark to judge.
