Any news from Blackwell OK?

#1 Postby nolabelplez » Tue May 27, 2008 6:50 am

My cousin called me last night and said they were in the basement, and a tornado was a mile from their house. I haven't heard from them since. The phone lines must be down. I can't get any news about Blackwell, only that Ponca City got hit. They're not far from Ponca City, in fact, that's where they shop and work.
I just wanted to find out if anyone was seriously injured in Blackwell. If anyone knows what happened in Blackwell, OK yesterday, I'd appreciate any info I could get.
If there's a better place to post this question, please let me know.
Thanks.

The only thing I could find were two hail reports:

0037 100 PONCA CITY KAY OK 3670 9708 (OUN)

And there was another from Newkirk as well.

Both my sisters live in Blackwell. I don't know about the landline phones being down. They both only use cellphones. As far as I know, they have not ventured out of their homes as of yet. One sister lives on Main street towards the end of town that leads out to Ponca, and she has no power. The other lives in the middle (sort of) of town. They had two sirens go off. One around 4 or 5, and then again at 9 or 10. I do know that they are under a flood watch because of the Chikaskia river. But that's about all I can tell you. I hope this helps.
