Yes Luis, and also reminds me quite a bit of hurricane Gilbert's track across the Caribbean in September 1988.

God bless,

Looks like the model tracks are diverging more than yesterday. What is the reasoning behind the one model taking the system SW eventually?

Good question Garrett. It seems that happens a lot...one or two models straying from the general consensus.

I lived in Galveston during the Gilbert scare

There were a lot of t-shirts declaring, "I survived the Great Pain In The As* Gilbert, 1988" showing the track going into relatively uninhabited Mexico. I stripped my boat to the bare bones, hunkered down on the mainland, and gasped when the medical center declared an evacuation. Better safe than sorry, but it unfortunately left many Islanders not trusting forecasts. I think only 2 minor canes hit the Island since then. Now living in Houston I still pay close attention to the Gulf, but realize that any type of tropical weather event can devastate our city - ala Allison, 2001.

Hi JJ,

Welcome to storm2k. I am from the Houston area too - the Eastside - in Baytown. I agree with you on Gilbert and Allison completely.

What part of Houston are you from? Hope you enjoy your stay here and let me know if you need anything.

I now live in the medical center area - 33 inches of Allison on my doorstep in 2001! I just luv the summer tropical season! Just hope to admire it from afar.
