Re: Look at this mess coming across Delaware Bay....
There was a hurricane force wind gust of 78 mph reported in Ocean City, NJ and one just below at 72 mph in Sea Isle City. I thought I read somewhere that Atlantic City (perhaps the airport) had a 70 mph gust.
It took me one hour to leave Atlantic City (6 miles). Two of the three main thoroughfares that go in and out of the city were flooded, Rt. 30 & Rt. 40. Everyone had to get onto the Atlantic City Expressway. My SUV was rocking back and forth in the wind. The waves were incredible and chewed up what was left of the beach in front of the Showboat Casino and took a bite out of the dunes. The water was murky and brown today from all of the sand that was stirred up. There were all kinds of surfers out there - they have to be nuts!

This is definately the worst May Nor'easter I can ever remember.
78mph is huge around here, we rarely ever see Hurricane force winds in the Delaware valley. I think Philadelphia international has only has one or two occasions.

The news casts and newspapers were talking about all of the areas along the shore that now have cliffs instead of dunes.
One of these days we will have a full fledged hurricane - we've had it before but not in our lifetime. All of those beach houses, casinos, hotels, etc. have bullseyes on them. It's going to be ugly.
