TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 PM EDT SUN JUL 6 2003
FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A STRONG TROPICAL WAVE...LOCATED ABOUT 500 MILES EAST OF THE
WINDWARD ISLANDS...IS MOVING WESTWARD NEAR 20 MPH. THE WAVE IS
WELL ORGANIZED...BUT THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT A SURFACE
CIRCULATION HAS FORMED. THIS SYSTEM COULD BECOME A TROPICAL
CYCLONE AT ANY TIME...AND INTERESTS IN THE WINDWARD ISLANDS AND
SOUTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR ITS PROGRESS IN
CASE WARNINGS ARE REQUIRED. EVEN IF A TROPICAL CYCLONE DOES NOT
DEVELOP...LOCALLY HEAVY SHOWERS WITH STRONG GUSTY WINDS TO TROPICAL
STORM FORCE IN SQUALLS COULD BEGIN TO AFFECT SOME OF THESE ISLANDS
ON MONDAY. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS
SCHEDULED TO INVESTIGATE THIS SYSTEM MONDAY AFTERNOON.

Thanks Southerngale for the info. Looks like we may see development out of this one. It has a real nice signature I think on sat. imagery at this point in it's development.

Hey Cyc, Do you still have your list of when Claudette will form?

Hey rainband and Southergale I think I picked July 6th and in Cyc's neck of the woods. Still has a chance by midnight. :D

Doesn't matter anyway, I think we were all fairly close on this one! Even if we don't for some odd reason see Claudette out of this one we all came close!

Do not think they (NHC) will call it without recon. The scat images are weak at best and not a whole lot of convection going on.

Considering how small this system is, I'd bet the NHC waits for recon tomorrow to upgrade unless a ship reports a west wind south of the center.....the NHC has upgraded two systems this season based only on sat imagery and ship reports.......MGC
