Six months away would be early October....doubtful s.e. texas will have a serious shot of winter weather for at least 7 or 8 months more realistically

Even worse than I first thought.

Looking like a dry, almost droughtlike condition may be developing South of I-10.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
610 AM CDT WED APR 16 2008

OF INTEREST...NEXT RAIN MAKER EXPECTED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...WITH
ECMWF TRYING TO DEVELOP A BIT OF PRECIP ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS
WELL. GFS SHOWS THIS FRONT AS VERY COLD...WITH THURSDAY HIGHS IN
THE 40S...BUT THAT IS BEYOND THIS PACKAGE TIME FRAME.

yeah, the GFS is showing quite a few impressive fronts reaching TX over the next week or two. Things could definitely get interesting..

GFS shows a major winter storm just up I-35 from Texas, in Wisconsin on Saturday.
