Dick Fletcher - Meteorologist passes away

Dick Fletcher suffered a massive stroke on Feb. 18th. He passed away this morning. The Tampa Bay area will be missing a great met and person - he was a really neat guy!

I didn't hear about the stroke until this morning on the news. I heard about him dying on the radio on my way to work.

What a shock!

He was my favorite meteorologist. I'm sad to see him pass. :(

Wow, I hadn't heard about his stroke. He was a good guy, what a shame.. R.I.P Dick Fletcher

Why is it every time I hear a meteorologist passes away it's from the Tampa area?

Probably because the last one to pass away did so in a gruesome suicide, and because Tampa is very heavily represented here at Storm2k.

He was a legend and he will be missed by many. I won an umbrella from answering the weather question of the day from 10 news and after that we would chat. I used to talk to him via aim and email. He was in a class by himself and this is both a shock and a loss to the weather community and to humanity. sad sad news :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

I always loved the way he'd get so excited about tropical weather... He had a very obvious love for his work.
