NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0141 PM CST TUE FEB 12 2008

AREAS AFFECTED...FL PENINSULA

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...TORNADO WATCH LIKELY

VALID 121941Z - 122145Z

STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO SLOWLY INCREASE IN INTENSITY THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON HOURS AND A TORNADO WATCH ISSUANCE IS LIKELY SOON.

WV IMAGERY SUGGESTED THE CENTER OF THE UPPER LEVEL TROUGH IN THE
SERN GULF OF MEXICO WAS LOCATED ABOUT 235 SW SRQ. THIS SYSTEM IS
MOVING NEWD AT 30-35 KT AND WILL APPROACH THE SWRN FL PENINSULA
COAST TOWARD 00Z. CURRENTLY WIND PROFILES ARE DEEPLY SSELY AND
GRADUALLY VEER TO SWLY AT MID/HIGH LEVELS. AS THE UPPER SYSTEM
APPROACHES...WIND PROFILES WILL STRENGTHEN AND LOW/DEEP LAYER SHEAR
WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELLS. A VERY MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER...
ADVECTING NWWD FROM THE CARIBBEAN...AND INCREASING LOW LEVEL SHEAR
WILL SUPPORT A TORNADO THREAT.

Thanks Jeremy, I'm in Merritt Island (couldn't find the profile update until after I posted).

I'm a s2k veteran from the 2004 atl season (but forgot my login info). Used to be in the Orlando area (crossroads of the Hunkerdown Tour).

Waiting for this cell to pass. Kids are under lockdown at school.

The storms in Florida are moving north, and the storms in Missouri are in general moving east. What will be the effect when they meet? Will they move NE? Will this interaction weaken the storms, keep them roughly the same or increase their strength?

Wbug is from Europe. Now, the Germans, and usually the British, have a fine understanding of US geography.

But, not to make him feel too badly, while I can identify all of the component UK countries on a map, and pick out the bigger ones in Europe, like France, Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and Italy, of course, and by proximity to Italy I can get Albania, Serbia/Kosovo, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece and Turkey, and Norway, because it is on the Western side of Scandinavia, I tend to confuse Denmark, Sweden and Finland, and have grief telling Estonia from Lithuania.

And I know Lichtenstein is in there somewhere, Monaco is attached to France, and San Marino to Italy, but don't ask me to find them on a map.

Geography is not a strong suit of us United States citizens.
