Hey! We're here and O.K.

Lost power until about about 20-25 mins ago. Some storm for a couple of minutes!
Getting tired of these tornados bouncing around everywhere!

Too funny - just about the time the worst was done and the power was out for about 1/2 hour - ya should have seen the cars leaving to get dinner! Gosh, doesn't anyone have any stuff to eat if the power is out! HAW

no damage in my neighborhood. highest gust here was probably only 35mph or so. considering i am surrounded by very large pines and oaks i am happy it was nothing worse. i was out at honeymoon island and bolted just before the storm came ashore. it looked ominous. that cell triggered the first tornado warning of this event in north pinellas. very cool overall. speaking of cool, the winds shifted northwest here at about 9:15 and the temp is plummeting.

It's downright chilly out there now! :cold:

Small branches down in the yard and a fairly decent limb that just missed
hubbys car.

Gonna head out for lunch in a while. I'll post later if we see anything
spectacular.

A cool afternoon in South Florida...but with cloudy skies, dewpoints not that low, and the winds already veering to the NE on Miami Beach, temps aren't going anywhere tonight...a very weak front down here compared to the one we had right after New Year's!

I just got back from a long run out on the Miami Beach sand - it was tough sledding with those strong winds veering NE. Looks real rough out there, with showers on the way. All in all, a very nice day, I wish we had these mild cloudy days more often. It was really hot and sunny the last few days; very warm for January with winds out of the SSE. Looking at the extended, no cold weather for a while.

Other than that brief cold shot we had, this has been a very warm winter.

You are absolutely right....has been quite a warm winter so far...Miami averaged 5.0 deg above normal for December 2007 and is running 2.2 deg above normal so far for January 2008 (from NWS Miami CF6 data for month)

CLIMATE REPORT...CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI, FL
1107 AM EST TUE JAN 1 2008

...THE MIAMI CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2007...
TEMPERATURE (F) OBSV NORMAL DEPT
AVG. MAXIMUM 81.6 77.5 4.1
AVG. MINIMUM 68.1 62.2 5.9
MEAN 74.9 69.9 5.0

And on a side note, as of 6pm, the temps have actually been climbing in the area with the onshore flow...Miami Beach is up to 69 deg!

For January 2008 so far (up to today, Jan 20) Miami International Airport has seen 11 days at or over 80F as highs.
Pretty warm yes, but not when compared to last January.

In the same period last year (Jan 1-20 2007) Miami had already seen 14 such days, logging its 11th 80 degree day by Jan 17 2007... and the month ended with 19 80 degree days.

You lucky lucky people! I'm gonna dream of mosquitos and sand flies tonight. I wanna grow a batch of them and let them loose in my place and pretend that its summer. LOL
