Re: Snow in the deep south this weekend!
Snowing here in Seminary, MS. We have about half an inch on the ground. When i got up at 3:00 the flakes were huge. Now we have small flakes with some sleet mixed in. NWS in Jackson not saying anything about snow for this area...go figure. Guess they're waiting until we have a foot before they issue any advisories.

Dionne, I know how you feel! My wife thinks I'm nuts! We've got at least 2 inches on the ground now and it's still snowing like crazy!
NWS in Jackson FINALLY put us under a heavy snow warning LOL.

I just happened to wake up early this morning and hoping it snowed and of course it did/is! And of course no snow is complete without hot coco
Local mets said a few flurries and thats it according to their "model runs" while Jim Cantore called it right on all night long.

Just started snowing in Demopolis, Alabama, just 50 miles from Mississippi. It's been sleeting for hours.
James Spann, the Birmingham weatherman, says the low in the gulf is stronger than expected, explaining the unpredicted snow in Jackson.
Get out the camera, Brent! It's coming your way!

Still snowing....we're under a heavy snow warning also.....I cannot believe the ambient is 35F and snow still dropping. We've got almost 2 inches.....it should be turning over to rain soon...
....our little dog has never seen snow.....he doesn't know how to act. I had forgotten how much I missed the snow.

Re: Snow in the deep south this weekend!
Hattiesburg still reporting snow as of the last hour. As a point of reference, Hattiesburg is about 65 miles north of the Gulf Coast. A rain/snow mix is being reported in Wayne and Greene counties of southeast Mississippi. NWS-Mobile has issued an advisory for the northern counties in its CWFA, as it is also snowing in Choctaw county.
I wonder if it's just possible that Mobile county (if not the suburbs proper) get in on the action. The current air temp at the airport is 37*F and the CAA has really kicked in on the north wind overnight.

NWS Jackson has just changed our forecast to 70% snow/sleet. The flakes are getting bigger......this isn't just a dusting.....it's snowing.....everything but the roads are white.

I think it's going to be close, very close indeed. Right now we're talking about probably a 60 mile difference. Radar indicates at least a mix developing in northern Washington County, as well as snow in Perry County, Ms. I have to question how long the precip will last before any sort of transition in Mobile County and points farther east. Hopefully so!

Re: Snow in the deep south this weekend!
The moisture is coming to a abrupt halt at the TX/LA border, so the lower Gulf coast (Mobile, Pensacola etc) only have a few more hours of significant precip....and with temps just hovering a few degrees above freezing I have my doubts.
