Hello Everyone How are you? I am not sure how to read the models here. It does look like some of the moisture is across NC are we suppose to get anything as far as snow.? We received some dusting here last night not anything to write home about
I know people that get snow all the time hate it But why is it us southern folks LOVE IT Just give me a couple of inches to look at for at least a full day..
with the drought at least it will cover up the ugly brown grass we have. Take care and stay warm.

I definitely live in the wrong place if I want to see snow. While I don't want to live up north and deal with ridiculously cold weather all the time, a little snow every once in a while would be nice. We just get devastating hurricanes like Rita and surprise hurricanes like Humberto here, and way too much rain.
Why am I even here?
I do hope you guys get your snow though.

EDIT: And I'm aware 5-6 inches.. esp from a TWC discussion isn't reliable.
Birmingham averages about an inch a year I think. They haven't officially had measurable snow since January of 2000.
Yes, 5-6 inches would be pretty historic. Not 1993, but still pretty big.
Oh.. wow. I didn't realize it was that little there.

Well the fact that it's showing this only about 48 hrs from now is interesting. Maybe.

Here in Canton, GA we got 3.5" of snow last night. One local met is saying that what we got yesterday is an appetizer compared to what we might get Saturday...

Re: Snow in the deep south Mid January?
Just some general thoughts - I grew up in Asheville, and was in Middle School and High School in the 1976-1983 range (as best as my foggy memory can recall!). We used to have these little GOM storms all the time - seemingly once a week during the January/February time frame. We always knew we were destined for a good snow when we heard it was snowing in Atlanta. Asheville as a city (and the residents) used to seem adept at handling the snow. It happens much less frequently now..........and we look like any other city in the south! The drivers are horrible!
This weekend's storm looks like a quick mover. So my guess is that we'll be hard pressed to rack up large snow fall totals. But............there could be snow pretty far south - which is always exciting. We're in a nice pattern at the moment.

WOW... 6pm Saturday. A primarily daytime snowstorm! Don't see that often. The Blizzard of 1993 was almost totally at night.

I think the accumulation predictions will be going up by tomorrow...

Im liking my position right now...right on the line between rain sleet and snow..models have a hard time with the surface cold right on...as we saw with the snow this week...I sure will be staying up friday night looking up in the sky
