It's the beginning of the school/work week and temperatures are still slightly above normal readings. The projected cooldown that would've taken place today is pushed over to Wednesday...with a slight chance of sleet & snow that night.

It seems we may not get any sleet mixed with rain tonight after all...but that still doesn't mean it's not gonna happen though. Highs will climb slowly to the 50s this afternoon and drop hard into the mid 30s tonight. and it's gonna be even colder on Thursday Night with highs in the 40s and lows near 30.

It's a Thursday morning, and many of us North Texans are waking up to bone chilling temperatures. OK, so the current temperatures are not THAT bone chilling, but the wind gusts of up to 25 MPH made it feel that way. Any outdoor vegetation should be brought inside or covered with a plastic sheet (if anyone hasn't already done so. We'll be seeing more windy conditions on Sunday as well. followed by a slight chance of rain from Monday on.

Today's gonna be a dreary Friday for some North Texans south of I-20 & I-30. Scattered showers will move into Goldthwaite, Hillsboro, Corsicana and the southern neighbors in the next 2 hours. Much of the showers will be mixed with light sleet. This activity is expected to continue throughout early afternoon. Otherwise, we'll see mostly cloudy skies today with highs still hovering in the 40s thoughout the weekend.

This is gonna be a start of a dreary week ahead. Starting today, we'll see a 50/50 chance of showers in the North Texas region with highs staying in the 40s, and another round of reinforced cool air blows through the area dropping temperatures back down to the 20s by Wednesday morning. Also by Thursday Night and Friday, we'll see a slight chance of a wintry mix that could make some roads hazardous.

In other words, make your heavy coats and unbrellas easy to access all this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Northwestern 3/4 of North Texas until Noon CST Friday.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:LIGHT RAIN IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP WEDNESDAY EVENING ACROSS THE
WESTERN PART OF NORTH TEXAS. THE PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD ACROSS
ALL OF NORTH TEXAS OVERNIGHT. THE RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE
TO FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET ACROSS THE WESTERN THIRD OF NORTH
TEXAS AFTER MIDNIGHT. AS TEMPERATURES FALL TO FREEZING FARTHER
EAST...THERE WILL BE A CHANCE OF RAIN AND FREEZING AS FAR SOUTH
AND EAST AS A KILLEEN...WACO....ATHENS LINE. TEMPERATURES WILL
LIKELY REMAIN BELOW FREEZING THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS AND
THERE MAY BE ENOUGH ACCUMULATION TO IMPACT TRAVEL...ESPECIALLY
IN THE WESTERN AND NORTHERN COUNTIES. CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE MID
TO LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AS TEMPERATURES WARM ABOVE FREEZING AND
THE SYSTEM MOVES EAST.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:LIGHT RAIN...SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE

The mild weather continues this week, and I'm soaking in it! Yesterday, I've failed to mentioned that we're under a Wind Advisory...but now that I'm talking about it, the advisory is extended and enlarged to cover the entire North Texas area. With that being said, a RED FLAG WARNING is also issued for the entire region until 6:00PM CST followed by a Fire Weather Watch until 6:00PM CST Wednesday...even though we had some on/of showers in the neighborhood.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:AN INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE FROM KANSAS TO THE GREAT
LAKES TODAY. A SURFACE TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS NORTH TEXAS THIS
MORNING WITH GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH AND VERY DRY
AIR. THIS WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A STRONG COLD FRONT AROUND MIDDAY
THAT WILL TURN WINDS NORTHWESTERLY AND INCREASE SPEEDS TO 25 TO 35
MPH WITH GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH. MID AFTERNOON HUMIDITIES ARE
EXPECTED TO FALL INTO THE 15 TO 25 PERCENT RANGE. THESE STRONG
WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL CREATE DANGEROUS WILDFIRE CONDITIONS AND MAKE
SUPPRESSION EFFORTS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE
THIS EVENING AS HUMIDITIES RISE AND THE WIND DIMINISHES.

RETURN SOUTHERLY FLOW AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL LEAD TO VERY HIGH
FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS ACROSS ALL OF NORTH TEXAS WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON. A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF NORTH TEXAS
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF
STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND DRY VEGETATION WILL
CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL. AVOID ALL OUTSIDE BURNING
AND WELDING TODAY. DO NOT TOSS LIT CIGARETTE BUTTS OUTSIDE.
REPORT WILD FIRES TO THE NEAREST FIRE DEPARTMENT OR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.

A FIRE WEATHER WATCH MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE FORECAST TO OCCUR. LISTEN FOR LATER FORECASTS AND POSSIBLE
RED FLAG WARNINGS.

Yesterday, almost 1/2 the northern part of North Texas (including DFW) was under a HIGH WIND WARNING, due to the fact that winds were gusting as high as 61 MPH! Some of the residents were without power for the entire afternoon. Today, (guess what) the dry and windy conditions continue to linger across all of the region, least until late Thursday. Until that time, our Wind Advisory is extended for the western 2/3rds of North Texas until 6:00PM CST. Also, a RED FLAG WARNING is extended for all of North Texas until 6:00PM as well. Already, there were a few fires that were sparked yesterday, especially in Paradise (Wise County) where many were displaced.

The Up & down weather pattern continues for the entire region as another strong cold front pushes through the region in Midday. The Wind Advisory that's in effect for the western 2/3rds of North Texas has been extended to 7:00PM CST tonight, and possibly again on Friday. The RED FLAG WARNING has been extended, but reduced to only the extreme southern parts of North Texas along and south of a Stephenville, Meridian, Hillsboro and Fairfield line. We'll see highs shoot into the upper 60s to 70s from Saturday to Monday, then another strong arctic front goes through the area on Monday night.

A RED FLAG WARNING has been issued for the western 1/3 of th region, including areas along and west of a Bowie, Decatur, Weatherford, Meridian, and Gatesville line until 6:00PM CDT. By the weekend, we'll see a repeat of last week, this time, with a chance of thunderstorms across all of North Texas through Monday.

The weather in North Texas is still unseasonably warm (and I like it). So, if you like the weather, enjoy it while it lasts, because another strong cold front will sweep through the region, bringing a chance of thunderstorms. Some could possibly turn severe, especially circling a Wichita Falls, Abilene, Waco, and Texarkana line. This includes the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Thunderstorm chances will end on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in mostly sunny to partly cloudy weather through the weekend.

We're waking up to a batch of rain and thunderstorms that is moving into the Red River areas of North Texas, but that's not the main event, the upper level disturbance is still way out to our west. Which is why the National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for almost the entire region until 8:00AM CST. By this afternoon, all the activity should move out of our area and from tonight on, we'll see cooler temperatures with thighs in the 50s and 60s and lows in the 30s and 40s.

Yesterday has been a wild day for areas along a Bonham, Dallas, and Waxahachie line where severe thunderstorms developed a little before 2:00PM. Many cities got pelted with marble-size hail and wind gusts of up to 60 MPH; but the line of storms got even more deadly when it has reached the Southeastern states. An hour later, a strong cold front swept through North Texas, bringing cooler temperatures and wind gusts of over 30 MPH. With that being said, we'll be seeing just about average weather for today and tomorrow, and things will be warming up on Friday.

The weather is slowly warming up, but don't bring out your shorts just yet. Our current readings are in the 40s, however, our highs will slowly rise to the 70s through Monday. Then on Tuesday, another strong cold front will...OK, I'm just gonna say it: It's gonna be a repeat from last week.
