Thunderstorm Cluster offshore West Central Florida

Looking at satelite and doppler, looks like Olga's been pretty much absorbed by the squall line. Whatever is left there is about 80 mi W of Sarasota.

Notable is the IR Satelite showing high cloud tops just offshore W Central Florida, showing no signs of weakening. The structure looks more like a MCS than a Squall Line right now.

Gusty winds, rain, lightning now in St. Petersburg.

Looks like a supercell 70 mi offshore moving toward the coast.

Citrus to Pinellas is going to get hit hard. Citrus to Pasco under a SVR warning already.

Actually just got the power restored here in St. Petersburg.

Extremely windy here 430a-515a, I am estimating gusts to 50-60mph, power transformers exploding, branches down. Quite a storm!

I would have to say at least 40mph sustained for a bit and 50+ gusts.

clearwater 78 mph gust

Yup very windy I slept from about 3-9 or so, was awaken briefly
to see a huge oak tree swinging hard.

Right now the winds are gusting to 30 mph and occassionally
35-40 mph near the open water canals.

Tornado preliminarily confirmed in Pasco County (baynews9). I was in chat last night with Dizzyfish who is in New Port Richey and said he thought he heard/saw a funnel cloud. That would mean this tornado likely went over his house!

78 mph - seems to be about what I expected from that. It seemed to be a hybrid of a tropical storm trying to revive itself and a serial derecho...

This did seem like a serial derecho, from my knowledge of derechos. I have not experienced a derecho to know one. It all happened in about a half an hour with winds of at least 45-50mph+. It was one line with two (super)cells that went through.

That tornado was declared an EF-1

Unfortunately, one fatality has been reported - from a tornado on I-75 in Georgia (the driver of an 18-wheeler died instantly).

First tornado fatality since the October 18th outbreak (there haven't been that many tornadoes at all in that time!).
