Weve actually already had several fires around this area in the last few weeks...Which sucks because we had the windows open and the smoke came in...

51° and rapidly dropping.

Zone forecast for my county:

Tonight...Clear...colder. Patchy frost after midnight. Lows around 50 near the coast and in the mid 30s inland. Northeast winds around 10 mph.

I would say ill be in the low-mid 40's tonight.

I made it down at most to 42°! I was out for my morning obs, so I am going on an electronic mobile weather station for that number. It seems accurate to me.

it is truly amazing how the Gulf Stream protects South Florida (Jupiter South) from the cold.

I remember one morning it was 47F in Boca Raton with light NW winds then the winds veered to a light East wind and the temp rose to 65F in nearly 30 minutes........

the rest of the state including SW Florida do not benefit directly from the Gulf stream when actic fronts come through.

I edited the title to reflect the models and the front coming down. It also looks like the SE will get rain.

Though very unseasonable, it felt very nice today. 70's with a nice sea breeze, great day to just lay on the beach and soak it in.

Agree....it is almost a distinct climate for Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade counties (and of course the Keys) from the rest of the state....much more influenced by the ocean and the predominant easterly flow.

agreed, the only way it can get cold here is if a Cold High settles in over South Florida....to block the easterly flow....

It's also amazing that as soon as you get to about Stuart and north on the EC of Florida, the climate is nothing like South Florida since the Gulf stream current is much farther offshore (like 100+ miles) a

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL
1225 PM EST WED NOV 21 2007

.SHORT TERM (TONIGHT - FRIDAY)...OVERALL THE MODELS HAVE CHANGED
LITTLE THROUGH THE SHORT TERM...ALTHOUGH DETAILS DIFFER WITH RESPECT
TO TIMING OF PRECIPITATION.

LATEST GFS CONTINUES TO TAKE HIGH PRESSURE OUT INTO THE ATLANTIC
TONIGHT WHILE 500MB HEIGHTS FALL SLOWLY ACROSS THE EASTERN U.S.
THROUGH FRIDAY. AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE AND ASSOCIATED FRONTAL
BOUNDARY CURRENTLY STRETCHING FROM NEW YORK STATE SOUTHWESTWARD
THROUGH TEXAS WILL MOVE STEADILY EASTWARD IN THE ZONAL FLOW ALOFT.
THE COLD FRONT WILL REACH THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE ON THANKSGIVING
DAY...THEN BEGIN TO SLOW DOWN AS IT MOVES INTO NORTH FLORIDA
THURSDAY NIGHT AND CENTRAL AND SOUTH FLORIDA DURING THE DAY ON
FRIDAY. MOST AREAS SOUTH OF TAMPA BAY WILL REMAIN DRY ON
THANKSGIVING DAY...WITH JUST A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS LATE IN THE
AFTERNOON. THE NATURE COAST WILL HAVE HIGHER RAIN CHANCES...
ESPECIALLY AFTER NOON. RAIN CHANCES WILL CONTINUE EVERYWHERE
THURSDAY NIGHT...THEN TAPER OFF OVER THE NORTH ON FRIDAY.

THURSDAY WILL BE WARMER THAN AVERAGE WITH TEMPERATURES FROM THE
UPPER 70S NORTH TO LOWER 80S CENTRAL AND SOUTH. COOLER AIR WILL
BRING TEMPERATURES CLOSER TO WHERE THEY SHOULD BE FOR FRIDAY... WITH
HIGHS ONLY NEAR 70 IN LEVY COUNTY...BUT STILL NEAR 80 OR SO IN
CHARLOTTE AND LEE COUNTIES.

.LONG TERM (FRIDAY NIGHT - WEDNESDAY)...MID/UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL
BUILD OVER THE REGION THROUGH THE PERIOD WITH A SHORT WAVE MOVING BY
TO THE NORTH MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT. AT THE SURFACE THE COOL FRONT
ACROSS SOUTH FLORIDA WILL MOVE NORTH AS A WARM FRONT SATURDAY AND
SATURDAY NIGHT KEEPING CLOUDS AND A CHANCE OF SHOWERS OVER THE
AREA. ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY A WARMING AND INCREASING HUMID AIRMASS
WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION AS A COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THE SHORT
WAVE MOVING BY TO THE NORTH APPROACHES KEEPING A CHANCE OF
PRECIPITATION IN THE FORECAST. APPEARS THAT THIS FRONT WILL PRETTY
MUCH WASH OUT AS IT MOVES INTO THE FORECAST AREA WITH HIGH PRESSURE
BRIDGING THE BOUNDARY AND BRINGING IN SOME DRIER AIR FOR THE MIDDLE
OF NEXT WEEK. TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY BE ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH
THE PERIOD.

&&

.AVIATION...A BRIEF PERIOD OF MVFR VISIBILITIES FROM PATCHY FOG MAY
IMPACT THE TERMINAL SITES TOWARD SUNRISE THURSDAY MORNING...OTHERWISE
VFR CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH TONIGHT.

&&

.MARINE...WINDS AND SEAS WILL BE BENIGN ENOUGH UNTIL THE COLD FRONT
PASSES...WHICH WILL BE THURSDAY NIGHT FOR THE NORTHERN WATERS...THEN
DURING THE DAY FRIDAY CENTRAL AND SOUTH. WINDS WILL INCREASE FROM
THE NORTH AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS BEHIND THE BOUNDARY...THEN SHIFT QUICKLY
TO THE EAST FOR THE WEEKEND. SEAS OF 3 FEET OR LESS WILL BUILD TO 4
TO 6 FEET BEHIND THE COLD FRONT...ESPECIALLY OFFSHORE.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...NO FIRE WEATHER PROBLEMS ANTICIPATED THROUGH THE
REST OF THE WEEK.
