I hope so! I love it when Thanksgiving is cold. It's really nice when it's cold enough to build a fire. Parades in the morning... preparing food... football....dinner... Cowboys... all the kids bundle up and play outside, usually some football. Ahhhh.... bring on the cold!

JB has been calling for a big change to very cold for the eastern half of the nation starting around November 20th. If he is right, then that "strictly for entertainment purposes" heading might need to be changed down the road. In fact, he even compared the end of this November and into December as being potentially similar to a situation like 1989 (meaning a very cold start to winter followed by a very mild Jan - Feb). Very interesting for sure...

BTW portastorm, both images you posted are showing November 25th. However, Thanksgiving is actually November 22nd this year, not the 25th, so you should have posted these images...

Both of these runs show a very strong front slicing through on Thanksgiving morning followed by the coldest airmass since last winter.

Nothing I'd like more than a cold, cloudy Thanksgiving. I'd love to watch the Cowboys and the Horns the following day with the fireplace going. Top it off Friday night with a cold weather high school football game, it would be just right!

Yes, that is the surface 32˚ line. In the long range GFS (with lower resolution), that line may not be exact, but it does give a generally good idea of where to expect 32˚ or below readings at the surface during the time provided by the model.

As you might expect, this morning's 0z run of the GFS has a considerably different and WARMER look for Thanksgiving. Oh well.

Yeah I know this is off topic ... but what a crock! Thanksgiving Day in America has always meant the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys playing back-to-back games on FREE network television. Just another disgusting example of NFL greed.

12z GFS shows a front pushing through north TX on Thanksgiving day ( http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod ... n_300l.gif ) and then reaching SE and Central TX by Friday morning ( http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod ... n_312l.gif ). It then shows a major winter storm setting up across the panhandle of TX and parts of north and central TX that lasts all the way through the post-Thanksgiving weekend.

Are you in the Texans local area or the Cowboys? If you are in the Cowboys area it will be aired locally.

Relax folks, the Cowboy game on T-day is going to be on CBS.

The following Thursday they play a night game against Green Bay on the NFL Network.

If Time Warner (who controls most of the cable here in Texas) didn't cave and allow the NFL Net on their system for Thanksgiving, they would have a rebellion like the state has not seen since the Battle of Goliad.

6z GFS is showing a pretty chilly Thanksgiving with highs only in the 40s (panhandle region), 50s (SE, central and north TX) and 60s (south TX) across the state...

It will be interesting to see if the GFS will latch back on to the cold solution it had a couple of days ago. Sometimes it will show a cold solution, then loose it, then show it again.

At this point, I will be happy if we can just get back down to normal, the morning's are feeling a bit yucky.

Hmmm...Accuweather has Austin with a high of 59 and a low of 43 for Thanksgiving under mostly sunny skies.

But I like your prediction on the outcome of the cowboys game! They proved yesterday that they are truly one of the elite teams in the NFL.
