Late fall and severe weather

#1 Postby CrazyC83 » Fri Oct 12, 2007 11:25 pm

Why is it that it seems lately there have been so many outbreaks of severe weather in the late fall months, rivaling the spring numbers despite their much lower overall probability? In recent years, there is a long list of late fall outbreaks:

December 16, 2000
October 24, 2001
November 23-24, 2001
November 9-10, 2002
December 17-19, 2002
November 23-24, 2004
November 6, 2005
November 12, 2005
November 15, 2005
November 27-28, 2005
November 15-16, 2006

With the wind profiles and really warm weather, I think that list could easily be added to this year as soon as big fronts come in...

I guess we can add October 17-18, 2007 to that list...

Is it really late fall though? More like early-mid fall. :D

That's true, weather pattern-wise. This certainly was not an atmosphere-clearer of any kind, and later outbreaks are probable.
