It is pretty similar to Danny and is every bit as strong, Humberto is probably stronger around 85-90mph at the moment but that doesn't appear to be reflected in the forecasts. Its quite impressive I have to admit, I bet some ar ein for a surprise when they wake up later on!

83kt drop didn't come in until after 0630z, so I'm not surprised . . . and the 989 was probably their guess that it would continue to drop in pressure . . .

Looking at the last radar, and I know it's foolish to conclude too much based on one or two radar images, but it looks like the eye wobbled slightly eastward.

I've heard about some tropical systems, when upper steering is weak, "bouncing" off the coast. I'm not sure of the science behind this, but our local meteorologist, Bob Breck, long ago talked about this, always refering to Juan in 1985.

Is it possible Humberto could do that? Or is the steering too strong pushing him NE?

SFMR to 62kts in SW quad and 74kts twice in E quad . . . and heights are significantly lower than last set of punching HDOBs, though that may just be luck in sampling timing.

98 knots at flight level at .9 reduce is 100 mph at the surface. So she is a cat2.

You're getting one of the outer squalls right now. The rain will lighten up in a little bit, but next time it goes heavy you'll be in the eyewall.

wow several +90kts readings at flight level, dependi ng on the reduction values they use this has a fair chance at being upped to a category-2 hurricane, talk about rapid developing hurricanes this season!!!
