Re: Old Satellite?
wxman57 wrote:That picture you posted vbhou doesn't look anything like the image I'm looking at dated 6:24am today. There is a lone cluster of storms inland over the Yuctan north of Belize and another over western Cuba moving NE toward the Bahamas. There was a flare-up of tstms west of Jamaica late last night, though, but that didn't last. I see another single thunderstorm east of the Bahamas. Perhaps that image was from 06Z? In any case, if this wave is to develop, it needs to have a stable cluster of storms, not these transitory flare-ups.
I can't see any evidence of a circulation center at any level. But one thing I do notice is that the trof through the Bahamas to the Yucatan does appear to be weakening, so we can't give up on this thing. I don't think we'll see any development through 48 hours.
Unfortunately, that pic was from an earlier posted update and I didn't know how to take it down. Also I didn't have the software I thought I had to change out the picture. That will change later today I hope. It was also 4am Houston time when I did that update so I could sleep in.

I in no way have given up on this systemand I must agree with the 48 hour no development of consequence window. The upper air in the S GOM has got to settle a lot for anything to happen besides a lot of rain. I'm starting to wonder if the progged split I have seen hinted at in models is going to happen or not though. If it does we may have two small ball games this week, one which could interfere with my FL trip.

Linda stay safe!! Your area is at risk for water spouts coming on shore for the next hour or so according to TWC storm experts. I know you have had way to much rain already, but it looks like this latest is going to be training over your area for a while. Be watchful! Thanks so much for taking the time to update us during this very stressful time for you and yours!!
