You should be here underneath it!!! Based on my rain guage and the time I would guess the rain rates at around 2" per hour. We just had 0.79" in about 20 minutes. It was coming down so hard I had to push water off the back patio to keep it from getting in the house-our gutters are down due to the house being painted and the new ones aren't up!!!! It does look like this line will move out relatively quickly, but we are having some local street flooding as well. Nothing severe about these in my area so far except for the exceptional rain rate. Plenty of CG too. I bet the BC dome is broken today!!!

This is a long way out, and will almost definitely change, but for now the model is showing a 1023mb high rolling down from Canada during the middle of the month which would usher in a cooler, drier northerly wind flow. What a refreshing change this would be if it actually played out!

wow, what a nasty storm that just was! Shortly after the severe T-storm warning was issued, the storm moved in with heavy rains, vivid lightning and very gusty winds. No major damage or flooding, but still the roads have some deep pooling/ponding water on them and a few small limbs and a couple of trash cans were downed by the winds.

yeah, looks like it was centered in you r area. Funny how in the warning the NWS said "Rural NW Harris county between Hooks Airport and Splashtown"...that area isn't so "rural" any more.

We're getting a pretty good storm near the "dome" right now. Looks as if this pattern will not let up for the next few days with a trough to the west and remnants of Henriette as well as disturbed areas in BOC(remnants of Felix) and Eastern GOM wave. Could be interesting the next several days.

All those tropical moisture converging on us could make us very wet. Sometimes EPAC storms cause massive flood events in Texas. October 1994 flood comes to mind.

The models and the NWS are on board for a weak cool front moving through the area next week. If this does actually play out, then highs dipping into the 80s, lows dipping into the 60s and lower humidity levels can all be expected.

Yeah, from the sound of the latest AFD it sounds like they are no longer debating "if" but rather "how strong". Oh well, there's always another summer next year to hope for.....

Maybe with the westerlies dropping down this thread will wake-up again. It's been kinda dead in here for awhile. Did Jen and Yankee go on vacation?

I was wondering the same. Sure had been quiet of late. Figured I'd hear about the dome being broken last week for sure, but nada.

Looks like it will cool down about 5 degrees, which will be nice, even though it has been a definitely mild summer here compared to many. Just don't allow any rain next Saturday for my daughters wedding!!!!

Has anyone else noticed that a few of the trees are changing color early this year? I was just outside and I noticed that there were many yellow and orange leaves mixed in with the normally all green trees. Compared to the last couple of years, this change seems to be 2-3 weeks early.

Is this just a localized thing though? or are other people in the area noticing it as well?

I've noticed it too, I first noticed it first of last week. Some of the sweet gums along Riley Fuzzel, over by Spring Tails, are really turning purple & red. My maple tree is getting brown patches on the leaves (it won't turn colors, it just turns brown in the fall unfortunately), and I noticed today some of the oaks in my neighborhood are starting to turn as well. I wonder if it has to do with all the rain & cloudy weather - if the trees think daylight hours are less than they really are??

Yep, and when we get a strong gust, dead leaves are falling from the trees already. Even though we haven't had a good front yet, it is that time of the year. Shoot, it's almost time to break out the Halloween decors!

Oh, and so much for the cold front later this week. It looks like it will hang out around north, Texas.
