Of course, when I was 18, girls didn't do this. Even though we had poloroids. I can't believe I am going to say this, but there are some things about the younger generation that I don't understand. Of course, at this point in my life, I make sure the blinds are closed on my bathroom windows out of pity for my neighboors. The last thing they need to see is my dragging bottom drying off after a shower. At 18, I honestly had no clue how good I looked. 20 years later, I am in total denial that I don't look that good anymore.
Well, if you aren't stupid at 18.....

Well, if you aren't stupid at 18.....
What did that girl think was going to happen when she took a naked pic of herself?
D'oh. It is a digital world and when you are a target, somebody will find a way to get dirt on you. Sadly, this probably has more to do with some dirtbag getting money.

Geez. Calm down. The girl was just having fun, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was with someone who had actually taken the picture. How on Earth was she to expect some scum would put a private picture on the Internet. And even in your generation girls did this. Maybe not you, but some girls did, I guarantee you, and there wasn't as much risk today.
After she's apologized and seems to be really regretful, and even said it was a 'private matter,' how can you suggest differently?

But fasterdisaster...we didn't have the internet back in the 70's. These girls who do this must really have their head buried in the sand to think that no one's going to see the pics even if they're for "private" use. What's private with the internet and digital cameras nowadays? Have you checked out facebook and all that lately? It's all boils down to having respect for yourself, common sense and knowing that the world doesn't revolve around you. She may have apologized but i believe the only thing she probably regrets is the pic became public and could have/will hamper her career. She should have thought of that back when she took the picture.

Oh I do agree to some extent. She should have been more careful and thought ahead, and shouldn't have taken the picture. It's just you can't say that it's all her fault when some of the fault lies on whomever put the picture online. And I wouldn't necessarily say she and other girls who do these kind of pictures think the world revolves around them, it's just they may get caught up in the moment. BUT-I do concur that she should have thought a little more about the consequences before taking the picture, it's just that I wouldn't say the majority of these pictures end up online, despite how many of them there are online.

So wait, she took it of herself? Or posed for it while someone else took it?
I had no idea about this, and all 3 of my girls 9, 9, and 5 love High School Musical. I hope they don't catch wind of this.
Im sure they will hear about it at school at some point. She should be thinking about all these little girls that look up to her.
Okay I just found an a few articles on the matter, it seems she took them of herself for her boyfriend who is also in High School Musical, Zac Efron. How the heck did they end of on the internet is my question? I guess she has to learn that someone in her position just cannot do stuff like that. Its all apart of her job. Any other girl of her age that is not famous could probably get away with it. She has a reputation to live up to, especially with all this little kids looking up to her. I hope she learned her lesson.

It was for her co-star boyfriend on HSM Zac Efron.
I mean come on, she's only 18!

Are they gonna make a song about this in High School Musical 3?
Sorry couldn't resist.

I saw the picture, I can't calm down.
But seriously, you are totally correct except that she is a public figure. That changes everything. Lets say, I take a naked picture of myself and send it to you via my cell phone. Nobody cares. (Well, you might...) I am not a public figure. Vanessa does the same thing. Well, there are plenty of scumbags who care. It is also possible to hack into a cell phone and steal images. At least on some models. If it is e-mail, then there are enough scumbags out there who are watching her e-mail just for something like this, or, it could be some 'friend' who wanted to cash in. We may never know. But, what we do know is that many people care about her. And, why risk a potential multi-million dollar carrer? Oh right, she probably didn't even think that far ahead.
I have young children too. I know that my 9 year old is going to hear about this. I think I will use it as an opportunity to talk about the dangers of the internet.
She has shown a lot of class and intelligence in applogizing so quickly.

I don't know how old you are, but I'd say that just because you didn't know it was happening doesn't mean it wasn't happening. We are living in a time of unprecedented data flow, and that is precisely why things appear worse than they used to from the perspective of old people.

Yeah I know, I mean I was almost 30 before I did those type things.
Seriously though, I was thinking my kids would hear it at school, but one of my 9 YOs was getting on AOL music and on the front page they have it full of music news and guess what was plastered there? Yep. And I thought I Xed it out before she saw it but she giggled and recited the headline back to me.

I agree your right I think I will use this to my advantage as well instead of trying to shelter them.
