I post whenever I feel the need to post ... whether it's a forecast, an observation, an unusual weather event, something off-topic, and sometimes, yes, I want to relax and play some games ...

Storm2k has a lot to offer for the weather enthusiast and the non-weather enthusiast ... and thus, IMO, Storm2k is Tropics plus more, and a pretty complete messageboard ...

Here's a statistic that would be interesting.
What is the average number of replies to threads.

My wild guess is 12. Anyone else, before Tom does the math?

Ed, how long should I wait before trying to figure out this statistic you suggested?

Also, how far back should I go? It will obviously take a very long time the more threads I calculate.

Tom, It doesn't matter to me. I thought we might get some interest in this factoid, but they're not exactly stampeding in! Maybe back, 3, 4 months would be good. Maybe to the beginning of the year- I don't know. For a volunteer position like this, I would never expect you to spend 40 hours on it! I'm easy.

I thought it would be fun to know so that we could get a sense of whether our posts are well received. Of course a couple of monster threads like sitting on the front porch, could completely throw the stats out of whack.

Tom why don't you try back one month first and see how long that takes you? That would help gauge how long it would take to do th ewhole board over a certain period of time. If we are talking each thread here it could be a daunting task, I think!!!! If each thread is too much maybe change that to each forum and take it back 3 months, or use the top 10 threads in each forum. JMHO.

Yeah, I would think that the games threads would throw this off too since they go on forever. IMO, I would for example, figure the Off Topic thread not including the Front Porch one, since it is designed to go on and on. (assuming you want an average of how many replies regular every day topics get)

I don't know....just a thought.
