It seems that the convection is now blowing away rather quickly,to the west, and well away of the center of rotation!!! An increase in the easterly shear?or the "dusk minima"???

I'm not impressed with 98L. I think slow development is possible, but not until it reaches the Caribbean.

01/2345 UTC 12.6N 37.4W TOO WEAK 98L -- Atlantic Ocean

It will be slow to develop as the shear from the east continues to expose the low.

From the look at those surface maps 98L is going for a ride through the caribbean...Its Incredible seeing another system moving through that area.Adrian

Maybe after 50 west if it does develop. It will go against every distrabance this season if it does develop. But this is the time in the season to beat the odds.

98L is struggling much like Felix was at first but lets see what happens in a few Days when it gets further West.

Derek...I agree that until this hits the warmer waters it will remain below the threat level....however it has been running too long and with too much noticeable action not to develop with warmer sst's....

this far out betting on this being an Invest...let alone at TD or a TS...or a cane...is out there to the point that betting on such is grounds to get a mental health checkup...grin!!!! but as someone in sofla I do not like this one.

OUCH!

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t2/loop-ir2.html

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t2/loop-avn.html

Convective activity is detatching from the weakening LLC. The easterly low to mid-level surge has decapitated the diurnal convective activity. The future doesn't look promising, especially because of the stable stratocumulus environment enveloping the eastern portion of the diminishing circulation. Additionally, the upper low ahead of 98L will not aid organization. It could take this system's life, which would leave a remnant area of weak sfc convergence/strong UL divergence moving westward with the low-level flow. It looks like I was correct when I took a conservative route on this system.

I think it is a good question, exposed LLC w/ all the convection blown off.

Next!

Actually, I wouldn't completely declare it dead yet, but certainly it won't be developing in the next couple of days.

I don't think that convection is even close to the LLC, which should be near 12.6N/38W

I know the Caribbean is shallow so it warms up really quickly, so will Felix's cold trail still be around when 98L gets there?
