I honestly think Dean looked better before he reached Jamaica when he peaked at 918(I think it was???)with alot better looking eye. Ever since that point he has been having trouble getting his eyewall back to where it was and has never looked as good in my opinion. Dean has had a concentric eyewall for a long time. If he has had only one eyewall present in those times it didn't last long and when he did it never cleared out and looked spectacular like most of the majors that we have seen in the last 5 years. I just don't think Mr. Dean is cut out to be a 5. He just wishes he was his cousins Katrina and Rita.

Pictures in Yahoo from Jamaica coming in. Heart wrenching. The poor just got poorer in Kingston.

I get conspiracy theory thoughts when they 'miss' the dropsonde reading. In any case, Dean ate the dropsonde. The presentation says it is strengthening prior to landfall at 160 minimum. What is the flight level windspeed?

As of the 11pm NHC Public Advisory #32: Dean is now tied at number 10 for lowest pressure in the Atlantic Basin...if the Recon dropsonde reading holds and is made official after being calibrated........

Here is my thinking for the recon to find...
171-175 knot flight level which is around 175-180 mph winds. Yes the .9 reduce because the cold cloud tops. Pressure close to 900 millibars. Lets see how close I'm.

Impressive...an extremely powerful hurricane that is really about to blast the Yucatan. I certainly hope they are ready for something they haven't seen in a long, long time....
