hey guys, We should have a cane at 5AM, if not at 2. IR is showing clear signs of eye formation.

But where is the image?

Things are really shaping up for Dean to become a strong hurricane. And I think we could still see a TX landfall, as I have heard some talk that Erin could create a weakness in the ridge over Texas. Should that happen, a NW or NNW turn in gulf would become more likely when Dean gets to that area, although too early to tell right now.

The NHC would be fooling themselves if they didn't upgrade this at 2am. Jeez, Ray Charles could see that this is a hurricane! (If he was still alive...R.I.P.)

I hope this thing goes north to the sparsely populated area of Texas. Mexico certainly doesn't need a hurricane now.

As far as I can tell it appears that DEAN is about ready to BOMB. Outflow on all quads fanning out like you can't believe. With CDO becoming better. WOW.

Watch this thing explode in the next 6 hours. I'm expecting 5-10 knot increase at the min per hour. Outflow fanning out in all directions...I expect this to be a cat2+ while moving through the islands.

Tropical Storm Dean has continued to improve on satellite this evening, or morning now. The overall organization of this storm is continuing to improve, due to the effects of the Diurnal Maximum. So far, the state of this storm has improved enough to be considered a Category 1 Hurricane, even though it might not be official until the 2AMEDT or 5AMEDT advisories issued by the National Hurricane Center.

I currently have Dean as a minor hurricane, with 75 MPH winds and a pressure of 990 MB. Dean is currently heading Westward at about 23 MPH. This path should continue for about another 48 hours before turning WNW afterwards.

Currently, A Hurricane Watch and Tropical Storm Watch are in effect for parts of the Lesser Antilles. Warnings should be issued at around the 11:00AMEDT advisory.

The Gulfstream IV Recon jet will be flying into Dean tomorrow, so we will have a better idea of where Dean will eventually go tomorrow night.

A full advisory will be released in the morning.
