The key seems to be the inverted trough/ULL which carves out the weakness

Allen and Gilbert are good analogs... during both we in the deep south were sizzling in extreme heat(just like now), both went to Mexico or extreme South TX. Florida is looking highly unlikely in this pattern.

Whether or not Dean hits Fla, its effects will reverberate there..and everyplace throughout the GC.. .The INSURANCE crisis that exists now will seem like a weekend in Disney..
But then again,that's another topic..

Everyone from Texas to MS should be watching Dean the most.By the weekend the models should give us a reliable guidance for where he is headed.One thing is for sure-he will be a monster

How can you narrow it down to 500 miles of coastline when it's over a week away? This thing could still miss the GOM and hit Florida/East Coast.

East coast is out. Not on list.

I still think its too early too say that. Not that i think it will magically go to the EC but still too early to tell.

Regardless what this model says...I'm sticking with something else beside Setx/swla...Not just because I live here....Just because. I stick with my I would rather see a model send it my way this far out than 7-10 days out...

The ridge looks like it is all the way to Florida..how is dean still moving west? blah! Im just trying to understand these stupid charts and I took met classes! lol

Ridge centered over the SE, looks like due west to Mexico.

as for now, cane by 5 a.m. is likely and the increase in forward speed has cost people 12 hours of preparation time
