My AC can't get us below 80 degrees in the house the past few days - at least until the sun goes down. I don't even want to know what the next billing cycle will bring...

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
306 PM CDT MON AUG 13 2007

.DISCUSSION...
SOME DRIER AIR HAS FILTERED INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON RESULTING
IN LOWER HEAT INDEX VALUES COMPARED TO WHAT WE SAW YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.
HI READINGS HAVE MANAGED TO REACH THE 105 MARK...AND THESE VALUES SHOULD
BE OBTAINABLE AGAIN TOMORROW AFTERNOON. HAVE THEREFORE EXTENDED THE
HEAT ADVISORY WHICH IS NOW SET TO EXPIRE AT 8 PM ON TUESDAY. AS WE DEAL
WITH THIS RECORD BREAKING SUMMER HEAT (GALVESTON ESTABLISHED ANOTHER
RECORD HIGH BEFORE NOON TODAY AND WILL TIE TODAY`S RECORD HIGH MIN IF
THE TEMPERATURE DOESN`T FALL BELOW 84 DEGREES BEFORE MIDNIGHT)...ALL
EYES ARE ON THE TROPICAL DISTURBANCE JUST TO THE NORTH OF THE YUCATAN.
THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE TO THE WEST NORTHWEST OVER THE NEXT
TWO DAYS. TROPICAL CYCLONE DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE (SEE THE LATEST INFORMATION
FROM TPC/NHC). IT LOOKS LIKE DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE WILL MOVE INTO OUR
COASTAL WATERS TUESDAY NIGHT AND ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON WEDNESDAY.
HAVE RAISED POPS AND INCREASED CLOUD COVER AND WILL MENTION THE POSSIBILITY
OF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL TOO (PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES SHOULD APPROACH
2.50 INCHES!).
WILL LOWER POPS JUST A TAD FOR THURSDAY...AND THEN WE`LL
GET BACK INTO OUR SEEMINGLY LONG ABSENT DAILY CHANCE OF MAINLY LATE
MORNING THROUGH EARLY EVENING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FRIDAY THROUGH
THE WEEKEND.

High of 101 again today, looks like one more day of 100 or higher and then temps will moderate back down towards the more normal mid 90s.

These is about the most "bold" the seabreeze has ever shown-up on radar. Wonder if it has anything to do with our friend in the GOM. It just looks wierd, almost eerie...

Haven't seen a lightning show like that in a long time. Hot... Hot weather and then a line of hefty thunderstorms. Broussard had some power outages... I was actually driving through all that mess.

Looks like the heat is cooling off though. 100 degrees is starting to become normal around here lol and it hardly ever gets over 100 this close to the gulf for that many days in a row.

I'm getting one of those storms here in Houston right now. Dashed outside to rescue my newspaper before it drowned and got slapped with about the most stifling airmass I've ever encountered. Ugh!

David Paul of khou is saying these rains are the outer bands of our TD 5...

Lots of thunder last night. Must be the outerbands of Erin. Never heard so much thunder in my life.

Yep - that was a pretty good lightning and thunder show all right.

My aunt is currently under the knife in a Corpus Christi hospital for ovarian cancer. Why, oh why, did this storm have to spin up NOW?

Pounded is an understatement. We are getting smacked around real good here in the I45 South and 610 area (Gulfgate). Goodness. It is coming down in sheets. Wind, rain and lightning are carrying the day. According to the radar, the training effect is really working. Man oh man.
