Kudos to the Storm2k Pro Mets on 99L

Pro Mets - including Wxman and Derek Ortt I have to hand it to you on 99L. You did a fabulous job on prediciting that 99L would not form quickly if at all. In fact it seemed that even the NHC was more gunhoe on development that never happened while the pro mets on this board kept saying the environmental conditions were not ideal. I still think many of us (including myself as I am eating crow for breakfast this morning) are shocked it never got going.

Thanks for keeping everybody honest and your contributions to this board.

I think the pro mets do a wonderful job here and we are so lucky to have them here to give us advice with their knowledge of storms. They do it for free here and they put up with a lot of stuff from some people. I second this kudo for the pro mets!

Gatorcane- most of us did not think this would develop until it hit the Western Carib/Yucatan channel. Myself and jschlitz off the top of my head. I am not a met at all, but that was easy to see, it was never more than a major thunderstorm complex. Do not confuse the good amatures with some radical posters that think everything is a TS. Like the every wave that moves off the African coast is already a TD posts. Pro mets here are very good but there are some real good non mets on this board.

yes there are but unfortunately there are a few wannabes that are not quite there yet that are really disrespectful at times in my opinion. They will never become as good as others here if they can't see that you ask questions to learn - you don't slam someone! I think that is why when someone makes a post that has no reasoning someone will ask what is the reasoning to show how they came to that conclusion. If they didn't use any then others need to know so they will know they are not to be looked up to yet. We all need to learn we need to listen more and ask questions more and be respectful about it.

But the pro mets were spending more time explaining to people why it wouldn't develop.....that is my point

I think we are aware of the FACT that any disturbance can develop. I've been doing this professionally for 20 years and have pretty much seen it all. 99L can still develop. I think the point is most are not hanging on to every satellite picture looking for the least it of rotation anymore. Most have assigned 99L the proper priority: the casual glance of curiosity. They are no longer scanning every bit of data hoping against hope for development.

If you still are...you are wasting your time. Right now it only merits a casual glance a couple of times a day. Any more than that...then you are 1) really bored or 2) delusional.

I must have misunderstood the title to this thread. I thought that the posters would be saying "Thank you" to the Mets who help us to learn more with each passing day. Instead I find a thread filled with more 'back and forth' commentary regarding 99L.

Couldn't we possibly have ONE thread for some of those who wish to say something positive to the Pros who teach us a great deal for FREE? Are they correct 100% of the time? No but, neither are the novices!

I just naiively thought that I was entering a 'KUDOS' thread, not another wrestling match between the "It's dead, It's not dead" crowd! If you wish to argue your points please, have the respect to do it in an appropriate thread. Thank you for your consideration.

Anyways, KUDOS to the Pros who come to this site and share with us their knowledge and opinions and also take our knowledge and opinions to mind. I, personally, have had the pleasure of learning a great deal from ALL of you and for that, I thank you!

Absolutely agree with this thread. Not just "thanks and you were right" but thanks no matter what for all the information on 99L. It was really informative, a good learning experience, I'm a little more aware now of what things weren't in place for 99L to develop.

I have been a member of this fabulous board for several years now. I spend most of my time "lurking" and learning. The pro mets have allowed my fasination grow into an educated hobby. I must also aknowledge the moderators and seasoned amatures who provide so much information. With the insight provided, I have, on occasion, been able to privately assist others with evacuation advise or calm their fears. My thanks go out to those who worked so hard to establish a forum that can draw the pros. I am appreciative of the professional who take their personal time and patience to educate the masses.

Hear, hear! wxman57 with his always excellent McIDAS maps, Air Force Met, and Derek Ortt as always did an excellent job in maintaining a proper perspective and realistic expectations regarding this disturbance. Their tempered analyses and experience is what makes Storm2k so valuable.
